hi; brother M. i think i & a lot of peole like me really aapreciate u for the correction you trying to make.but; i think instead of focusing in every each word what has been said; i think we should focus what is the person trying to say as a whole in general stetemen or what is trying to send the message is the point.
first of all; remember this is not an online gramerer instruction lesson site as u may very well aware of.
Second it does not help or incourage people to give constructive feed back;comments;and suggition how to speed up to weakining the dectator regime because of affraid not to make mistakes and affraid of not to be critisized.this is ofcourse with all your respect brother

        Hi Abdu,
This is how I see it.
We know that Messinas is one of us who believes in the removal of the evil power in our country.
But he is also gifted and a big contributor to the improvement of our language. I believe we can do both, that is focusing on the main issue, which I believe that his focus is on the main point. But he is also correcting us when we make some grammatical errors.
We can learn, from each other, we should be open and criticizing each other. I don’t think we will get the chance to sit down and learn any grammar lesson in Tigrigna any more for people who are adults like 20 and avove any more. On my side I am really learning a lot. I would like to use this opportunity to encourage Missinas to keep up the good work. I believe there are many who appreciate his work too.
Abdu, have lots of miss spellings in your response to Messinas, you could have double check your spelling instead of just posting it with all these errors. Not only are you encouraging people to make errors but you are also making lots of miss spells in your letter.
I guess we should always write correctly if possible.

        Thank you,

thank you! but remember i am just giving a suggetion; i am not trying to distruct .

          To: Mogos,
I admire your response. It is clear, to the point, and respectful. Your support for Messinas’ effort to bring to our attention a possible error in the Tigrigna language is admirable. It is a unique and refreshing attempt to keep the Tigrigna language alive in the midst of intricate obstacles to make the language obsolete!

Tigrigna is one of the WRITTEN ancient languages in the world. It is a treasure of a Nation. Those who do not have written indigenous language are always envious of those who have one. Here is a little story. A long time ago, at a university, a graduate student in Sociology (Black – American) approached a foreign student with excitement to pour this question: “Do you know that you are the only African country in the Continent of Africa with a written language of your own?” He didn’t wait for an acknowledgment. As a sociologist and Black-American he felt the significance of having a written African language and that he was proud of it – by extension. Having thus unloaded his ecstasy he bade farewell to the speechless foreign student and left. The student was an Ethiopian – at that time.

Now, let us ask a string of questions:

          a) Is Tigrigna deeply appreciated (linguistically) by Eritrean scholars ?

          b) Was there any formal educational curriculum to teach Tigrigna (its grammar and history) in Elementary schools, Secondary schools? Forget University—anyone proposing such a curriculum at such level would be laughed at. That is the depth of inferiority complex – rejection of thyself! Archeologists and anthropologists spend their Life time and enormous resources trying to recover ancient lost civilizations; Eritrea is busy — in the opposite direction — burying its treasure!

          c) Is there a single Eritrean scholar who is dedicated to the study of the Tigrigna language?

          d) What percentage of highly educated Eritreans (i.e. of the Ph D level) use Tigrigna in written communication and publications?

          e) Can one name just six books of literary quality [of international stature] worth mentioning that have been published by Western educated Eritrean scholars?

          f) What percentage of ALL Western educated Eritreans use Tigrigna for daily written exchanges of personal letters etc?

          g) How many Diaspora communities around the globe provide meaningful Tigrigna schools for their future generation children?

          h) Is there any hope that Tigrigna, the ancient Geez-derivative written language, would ever occupy the same status as any of the Latin-derivative languages or Arabic that are widely used in Eritrea? …………..Eritrea is its own worst enemy!

Word of appreciation The subject was raised by a commentator Messinas. An error was noticed in an Invitation Notice written in Tigrigna concerning the proper Tigrigna equivalent of “welcome”. It is interesting and refreshing correction. But, sad to say, the ‘Messinas’ are ‘rare breeds’ in the wilderness against desert wind – heading to oblivion. Prove me wrong, please.

    • Dawit Meconen January 29, 2014

      Mesinas,
Where you from? I do not need an answer from you; the correction you erroneously attempted to make tells me who you are. Yes, you are just beginning to learn Tigrigna.

Anyway, you are wrong, and they were right.

Mtsu… is used when we invite people to come.

Mutsu…is a name applied to a male cat that has become wild.

      Got it?

Messinas Thank you for the correction – though it is much more than a correction. Please read my reaction on the subject under Mogos

    • Zufana February 2, 2014

mesinas with all due respect don’t you have a better things in your life to do or worry about? People think/worry about every day things such as family matters, work and general health issues but you all you think about is correcting people and writing endless and stupid poems. Please get a life and also a proper job for your dignity.

  • sarah January 29, 2014

Wedi vaccaro is a corrupt bankrupt merchant who lived in Italy. He have no political skills to adresse Eritreans. This corrupt man couldn’t even manage his familly, he left his children to misery and the single mother worked hard to raise his children alone. How can such morally banrupt individual organize meetings, I am sure true Eritrean will not go to his miteeng. He is a coward woyane agent.

    • Mogos January 29, 2014

      Sarah,
Okay lets say Wedi voccaro is like what you said in his personal life.
You are one betrayer, who betrayed the people of Eritrea who deserve better.
You are a betrayer to the cry and pledge of the martyrs . All you care is your about wellbeing and your interest.
I don’t think any human being with a right conscience will support the dictator. All people who do support are selfish like their dictator or ignorant. If wedi voccaro is what you said his personal life is, I really admire him. Not for his failure in his marriage and personal life, but for the fact that he was able to manage it, and still be able to contribute his part in this crucial time when Eritrean and its people is pleading for help.
Hope you will come to your sense respond to the call of the cry of our people.
Plus please be respectful of others.

Sarah;do you know about who is Selamawit)She is the Weyane and she sure know that it’s not easy being openly Weyane in the present, she is just confused, she does not know what she is doing:Idon’t think it is a shame for the World communtiy to be Weyane Tigria and we can not cage them somewhere even though they are stupid. They want to be Eritreans in our vicinity and often find that which ought to take their pick pack and come to our country, but we denied them.Selamwit is one of them, she complained about everything and always on Isaias and she seen him as a sort of freak OH…Isaias…Isaias hatred…hatred day in day out Isaias…They have not progrssed further as people..so it can be done in two ways to get closer to them..eather zero tolerance for them or we sell them legally to Bedeweinni:-)

    • selamawit2 January 29, 2014

      hi Aman,

last time you asked me if i am eritrean or ethiopian. though “”ethiopian” is for me not a swearword, i thought you are one of the “l.t”s and “halengi”s in this forum who just want to provocate everyone with such a question who is not a supporter of the dictator.
but after this post i wonder if it was a missunderstanding from my side. that is why i want to aswer you now:

i am an eritrean who grew up in europe. my ancestors (from my fathers side and my mothers side) are well known eritreans for long generations. my father was a tegadaly. in our family there are a lot of acclaimed heros of gedli. it is bitter, but i think there are also family members who gain from the iseyas regime – they won’t escape my critics either!

i am persuaded of democracy, human rights, equality. i believe in humanity – i believe in god.
i love peace and understandig. but if i see people riding roughshod over weaker ones i get mad – and engaged! seeing all the eritreans going through hell because of the iseyas regime, my blood bubbling – i am mourning and i am very angry!!!

i hope i could answer your question. bye

p.s. i have greatest respect for those who help others.
