    ዝኸበርኩም ኣቶ ኣማኑኤል ሣህለ፥ ከምኡውን ኣሳናዳእቲ ኣሰና:- ‘ትዕዝብቲ’ ዝብል ቃል ምስ ርኤኹ፥ ኣብ ሕድግደፍ ዘለዎም ትዕዝብቶም ብዛዕባ ምምሕዳር ህግደፍ ተጸብየ ኔረ። ‘ትዕዝብቲ’ ባዕልኻ ዝተዓዘብካዮ፥ መጻሕፍቲ ተወኪስካ፥ ሰባት ሓቲትካ፥ እትረኽቦ ፍልጠትን ትምህርትን ግን ‘መጽናዕቲ’ እንተዝበሃል ዶኾን ኣይመሓሸን?

    ድርሳንኩም ዘደናግር ኮይኑ እየ ረኺበዮ።

    ህግደፍ ንባህልን ሃይማኖትን ሕዝቢ ኤርትራ ፈሊጡ ይቡሕጉጎ ከምዘሎ፥ ኩላትና ንፈልጦ ኢና። ሕጂ ድማ ኣቶ ኣማኑኤል ሣህለ ንመራሕቲ ሃይማኖት ኣይትስምዑ ይብሉና ኣለዉ። ኣቶ ኣማኑኤል ምስ ህግደፍ ዝሰማማዕ ሓሳብ ዘለዎም ይመስል። ማለተይ ንጉዳይ ሃይማኖት ብዝምልከት።

    ሓቂ ክዛረብ፥ ካብዚ ናትኩምስ፥ እቶም መራሕቲ ሃይማኖት ዝሃቡና ትምህርቲ ኣጸቢቑ ዝጠቅምን ዘርብሕን ኮይኑ ረኺበዮ።
    . መልእኽቲ ኣቡነ መቃርዮስ ኣብ ኣሰና ሰሚዕናዮ፥
    . ኣቡነ እንጦንዮስ ዝጸሓፉዎን፥ ብዙሕ ዝኸፈሉሉ እውን ተዓዚብናዮ።
    . ‘ሓውካ ኣበይ ኣሎ?’ ዝብል ኣቡናት ካቶሊኽ ዝጸሓፉዎ ድማ ንብዙሓት ኣዕጊቡ እዩ። እዞም ካብ ባሕሪ ብጭልፋ ዝጠቐስኩዎም ሰባት፥ ነዛ ዓለም መኒኖማ፥ ሽሞም ንቕድሚኦም ጌሮም ዝኸዱ ሰባት እያቶም። እዚ ከኣ ታሪኽ ብዓል ኣቡነ ፍሬምናጦስን፥ ኣቡነ ታቴዎስን ኣቡነ ፍሊጶስን ወዘተ ከየልዓልካ እዩ። ዓሰርተ ትእዛዛት እንተ ወሰድና፥ ንሰብ ብሰላም ክነብር ይሕግዛኦ እምበር ዝጎድኣኦ ኣይመስለንን።

    እሞ ጽሑፍኩም ደኣ ብኸመይ ኢዩ ምስዚ ክውንነት ዚክቃዶ?

    እዚ ድርሳን ካብ ዘመን ናብ ዘመን፥ ካብ ሓደ ቦታ ናብ ካልእ ቦታ፥ ካብ ቅድሚ ክርስቶስ ናብ ድሕሪ ክርስቶስ ሓዋዊሶም ኣቕሪቦም ኣለዉ። ኣብ መጽሓፍ እገለ ተወከሱ ዘይብሉ፥ ትዕዝብቲ ኢሎም ኢቦምና ኣለዉ። ኣብ ናይ ህግደፍ ጋዜጣ እንታይ ኢሎም ይጽሕፉ ምንባሮም ዝፈልጦ የብለይን (ህግደፍ ባህልናን ክብርናን ሃይማኖትናን ክትቡሕጕግ ከላ ኢዶም ሓዊሶም ከይኮኑ እጽፎ።)

    ክቡር ኣቶ ኣማኑኤል፥ ድርሳንኩም ነቶም ኣብኡ ተንኪፍኩሞም ዘለኹም ዝተሓዋወሱ ሓሳባ ፈላልዩን ኣብሲሉን እንተዘቕርብ ምፈቶኹ። ኣብዚ ዘለናዮ እዋን፥ ኣንጻር ሃይማኖት ዝጉስጉስ ጽሑፍ ንህግደፍ ስለ ዝሕግዞም እንተዝጸንሕሞ ቀስ ኢልና ክንማጎተሉን ክንጫበጠሉን ምበልኩ።

    ንፖሊቲካ ዝምልከት ሓሳብውን፥ መልእኽቱስ፥ ዳርጋ ካብዚ ሕጂ ዘለናዮ ዝኸፍኡ ከይመጽኡና፥ ምስዘለዉ ሰይጣውንቲ ምልዛብ ይሕሸና ዝብል ውስጠዘ ከየመሓላልፍ ቁሩብ ምንጻር ዘድልዮ ይመስለኒ። እዞም ናይ ሎምዘመን መራሕቲ ሃገርና፥ ደይመደይ ኢሎም ኢዮም ክብርና ነክዮም፥ ሕዝብና ኣብሪሶም፥ በይኖም ክነብሩላ ዝደልዩ ዝመስሉ። ካብዚኦም ዝኸፍእስ ኣምላኽ ኣይፈጥርን ግዲ!

    For many reasons Mr. Amanuel Sahle is well liked by many people. And that is good so. However, that may be the only reason people are positive about this particular article. Instead of reading what is written, many people are quick to jump to conclusions based on the writer’s identity. For me Mr. Amanuel Sahle, as usual tried to be above it all (just the way he was when he used to produce a column for Eritrean Profile). He had this way of telling the entire Eritrean population that it was ignorant and useless when all he did was compile borrowed ideas from here and there. He still lacks originality and depth. It wouldn’t even be far-fetched to say he makes no sense at all. Still, readers love to love him. And that is what’s happening here, too. Even Assenna made a big deal out of his article which talks too much and says nothing. What exactly does he want to say? Is he saying religious leaders are the only ones at fault when it comes to Eritrea and its people? Or that they are worse because they refused to implement the constitution and put thousands of Eritreans in prison? Why is he writing about religion now when a people is on the verge of extinction and a country’s future has become darker than the night? Is he saying religious leaders are our number one enemy even before a dictator and his clique?

    Fikre, this is only part one. You need to read or listen all parts before you jump in. memhir Amanuel is a well read, urbane and open minded person. Though the issues are complex, Memhir has the ability to put it in a simple way in his native language. He is very proud of who he is, in his identity and heritage, and a humble man at that.

    This is what memhir Amanuel said in part two. My hope is that he will continue to write and educate us in the language that many ordinary “non-elite” Eritreans can understand.

    “ከምቲ ኣቐዲመ ኣብቲ ካልኣይ ክፋል ዝበልኩዎ፡ ንርእሱ ሓራ ዘይኮነ ሓራ-ኣውጻኢ፡ ሓራ ከውጽኣካ ኣይክእልን። እቲ መውጽእ ሓራ ነቲ ናጻ ዚገብር ባህልና ኣበላሺዩዎ እዩ፡ ነቲ ኣብ ኣርበዓታት ዝነበረና ናጻ ናይ ምጽሓፍ መሰላት ዓጽዩዎ። ንክብርና ኣትሒቱዎ። ነቲ ናይ ኣቦታትና ናይ ምጽውዋር ባህሊ ኣብሪሱዎ። ኣብቶም መንእሰያት ድማ ዘይሕከኽ ናይ ኣእምሮ በሰላታት ገዲፉ።”

    Dear Berhane, you have written that we ‘need to read or listen all parts before you jump in.’ That is exactly what I object. If he has said something that I disagree right at the start, why should we wait till he finishes his series? If there is flaw in the premise, do not expect something good in the conclusion. If Amanuel Sahle wants to educate us he better get it right at the start – right at his introduction.
    You say he is a teacher by profession (?). Well, please let all remember that this is not classroom where one could get away with making sweeping statements jumping from centuries to millennia, from here to there. Simply said, if you found his article informative or educational I certainly did not. I found it to be confusing, pessimistic, accusative, and superficial.
    Please remember how we ended up in where we are! We were told to give the Provisional Government of Eritrea the chance to achieve its ‘lofty goals’, and keep our eyes closes when we clearly saw flaws right at the start. The premise was wrong. How about the end result? Even worse!
    You also wrote that ‘memhir Amanuel is a well read, urbane and open minded person.’ I am sorry but we are not discussing the person. We are discussing his article ad hoc. Period. I don’t understand why you needed to bring the person here.
    If he is well read, open minded urban person (I hope you will not call those from rural backgrounds as less read, narrow minded, hagereseb) why did he not take the time to give us an article that is researched rather than ‘OBSERVATIONS?’ Do you know my friend, one can be a little sarcastic and ask the good urban was he ‘observing= te’ezibti’ over all the centuries and countries…?

    As stated above I do not know Amanuel Sahle but if he is a serious writer, I would expect him to come up with a serious paper rather than this type.

    I hope Assenna will give it more thought in the future. Essentially I agree with Fikre.

    You have been doing good job as a journalist,in fact you are better from what we have now.
    What is missing is to be a tittle hard. One way to do this is,to invite the Writer Amanuel Sahle to your interview and ask tough questions which were not clear in his articles. For example,he said “ኣግፊሕካ ምሕሳብ ከም ምኽሓድ ሃገር እዩ ዚቝጸር ዘሎ። ኣግፊሕካ እንተ ሓሲብካ ጽባሕ ንግሆ ንትግራዎት ኣሕዋትና ክትብሎም ኢኻ።” So,you can ask him what he thinks him self?

    To me it looks like Mr. Amanuel Sahle has unfinished business somewhere. He is so ….undecided. He is above…he is in the middle. Two positions that would best describe him are above and in the middle. For he desperately wants people to see him as someone above it all and he wants to believe that he is neutral where having a stand is the only thing that matters. Inside though we can see him burning with……hate and arrogance. His ‘have done that have been there’ attitude is indicative of that type of personality. Selamawi’s comments surly paint a clearer picture.
