The question that repeats in every discussion is always,  why has it been taking  us so long to get rid of the Tyrant in Eritrea?

First  and formost I wish every Eritrean, a better year and healthier, and proper  method of struggle so that we are able to reach our goals. The goal which most of us are looking to reach is primerily a political and social change in our country.

The question that repeats in every discussion is always, why has it been taking us so long to get rid of the Tyrant in Eritrea?

I think here are some of the reasons:

    – Out of a sample of 10 Eritreans taken randomly, at least 5 have no clear idea, neither about what went wrong, nor which direction we should take now. They find it difficult to understand that the issue is not only Iseyas, but the system. The political and ideological premises on which liberation era organizations were based were probably suitable for that era, but carrying over the old heavy luggage (the mindset that we can do it alone, relying on militarization of the country and society, instead of national reconciliation and political pluralism) of the back of post-liberation Eritrea was a disaster.

    – The first victim of any conflict situation is trust. It takes a lot of time and goodwill to restore it. Unfortunately, mutual suspicion is one of the hurdles that is on the way to open and honest dialogue in the opposition camp. The regime has sent it’s agents to join the opposition camp. These are people who have no interest in any change, because of their past crime record.
The danger that this type of people pose, can be clearly seen in post-Gaddafi Libya. In that country, people who used to serve the old regime, in the final days of Gaddafi joined the opposition, but only to protect themselves and avoid accountability. Some of these people are now leading different regional and tribe based groups. Libya is heading towards partition and the conflict doesn’t seem to have an end in near future.

    – In a country where the law is supreme and it has a constitution, parties to a conflict can refer to laws of the land and settle their differences according to it’s provisions. In Eritrea the regime, knew well that the laws would have solved many problems and would help people unite against a dictatorial regime. The regime likes lawlessness, it’s a ‘shifta’ and the worst one at that. The opposition camp should work on the unimplemented constitution to make it acceptable to all and a tool of achieve national unity. Unless there is a common minimum ground for a united front against the regime, the current situation in the country is most likely going from bad to worst, especially, as more and more foreign elements [DEMHIT] are absorbed in the Army and security apparatus of the regime.

Every thing right but first thing is unity , we have to unite and throw esayas , the system who made it, the devil eseyas
everyone is better than eseyas, what did he do for eritrean , nothing
from the start he was killing , he is still killing, the worst of his is he doesn’t like, smart, entellingent and educated person
because he foght for him self and he doesn’t want anybody to be above him self, that is his character.

I have worked and lived with many ertreans with diffrent backgrounds. One interesting thing I noticed is the hgdefs who come from addis, asmara, khartum where ever they are from they are same and are majorities (may be it is a bad luck I met only them). The few opposition I met are way out of african league to say the leat. They are too advanced and have high expectation to their fellow citizens. To make things worse the new sawa genarattion are frightingly at odds with them.

During derg time the whol world was struggling for a better world including eritrea. But The sawa generation in eritrea is molded to believe that it is number one in all aspects. It believs that it achieved no country in the world managed ever. They are so satisfied with their achievment they dont even bother to explain what they have ACHIEVED.

And this the work of hgdef and it is hard work for the opposition to take away this pride given by hgdef.

During the 30 years of the armed struggle religion and ethnicity were exploited by the so called former revolutionary leaders to come to power. This has also left its mark on the current opposition leaders. Indeed the exploitation of religion and ethnicity with the opposition group leaders and their supporter Eritrean educators who are currently engaged in a cyberspace civil war on websites such as awate.com & meskerem.net did not suddenly surface but is inherited from the former revolutionary leadres.
Generally the Eritrean people have suffered over half a century because their trusted leaders are not committed to harmonize Eritrean society. Like the former revolutionary leaders, the current the opposition leaders have still tried to divide Eritrea society through the formation of ethnic and religions organizations. This is done deliberately to fuel tension between Muslim and Christian as well as within various ethnics to cover up their narrow power struggle.
The Eritrean people should learn from their past naivety in trusting those former so called revolutionary leaders and their collaborators. By their internecine conflicts they set back the victory of the people’s liberation struggle in the 1970s and these still bedevil the opposition leadership.
Neither the ELF nor the EPLF was founded by leaders who emerged as a result of a democratic process. This culture of intolerance and lack of democracy had continued until now. We must empower our people today not tomorrow to become real participants in the struggle for democracy. I also believe the path to a lasting peace is a struggle based on a peaceful and democratic means and not through the barrel of gun or civil war.

      Ghebrehans
Such messages of mistrust and suspicion among ourselves was the weakness to leave us at this
sad situation . For how long do we have to play
      a game of accusations ?
The writer of the article said ” I would never involve on issues which divide fellow opposition
groups to benefit PFDJ regime ” . Wake up please
from dark dream to see light of hope .

Dont you think you stuck in the past? You do the same thing. There is a solid 25 years between now and then. Stick to the new problen and reality. The majority in eritrea dont understand you. They are new generation. A 15 years old in 1990 knows little about the 30 years zeraf zeraf. Now that person is 40 years old and running eritrea according to hgdef policy. You have millions diaspora means nothing to the reality in the big prison made by pfdj. Rather the hgdefs based in eri is influencing where ever you are. My colleague is damned afraid the two issaiasists who works with us. Oh my God if you only you here how hgdef policy is correct while my colleague smiles shipishly. In short come to now, the reality.

    Ghebrehans T.

Brother, Awate.com and Meskerem.net are not the same. The former is working for change, while the latter is for status quo. I don’t you think you have not noticed that but many be trying to create a wedge
that serves your purpose, which can be only of Higdef.
