According to assenna sources, the desperate PFDJ regime in Eritrea is forcing Eritrean women including 50 years and above mothers into military training.

As indicated on assenna’s earlier news report, the forced military training of Eritrean mothers is ongoing in Tokombiya, a small town in Gash-Barka region.

Additional information received by demo.archive.assenna.com from Barentu, the regional capital of Gash-Barka, also confirms the occurrence.

The scheme has been executed in Barentu a few weeks earlier.

In all instances, PFDJ authorities have been employing coercive tactics to force the women join the military training. They warned the majority of the mothers that their coupon will be canceled, while threatened those who run small businesses their licence will be evoked unless they attend the mandatory military training.

Most Eritrean mothers have been almost ‘widowed’ as their husbands have been subjected to the illegal, endless ‘national service’, together with their 18 and above sons and daughters. Due to the uncharacteristic situation in the country, they have been overburdened with raising up small children like single mothers. Yet, the dictatorial PFDJ regime is putting more pressure on them with this unheard of ‘military training for mums’ new scheme.

Since last year, the fading regime has been engaged in training and arming 70 years and above men in several villages and towns of  Eritrea, including Asmara.

Whoa. I lived in Tokombiya as child. I never in my whole life thought it would be in any article or news. It is small town not far from river with two bridges one made by the Italian and I think the other Ethiopian.
The news sounds surreal but it doesn’t surprise me. Just like in Ghedli days- militarization is form of population control.
I am not sure where that picture is from but Tokombiya area is definitely not that barren..

    • David March 24, 2013

“.. militarization is form of population control. ”

Defending your country should never be equated with militarization and as a means to control the population.

        Defending your ARSE!
        blood suckers!

        • David March 24, 2013

          Woyane parasite!

          • awet March 24, 2013

Defending from who David? By the way when are you going back to Eritrea to defend the nation from whom you ever think is the enemy? Defending the nation from your comfort….you the lowest of the lowest. The government continue to make an a$$ of itself. Growing up in Eritrea, it was rear you hear people taking their own life, but now thanks to HGDF it has become norm.

          • David March 24, 2013

” Defending from who David? ”

            Awet,

            Don’t ask a stupid question.

What the fuck do you know about defending Eritrea? the answer is non ,a blood suckers like you they can not defend Eritrea ,other wise you would have defend the mothers and grandmothers been force to carry AK47 by your master, the sad part is,THE ERITREAN MOTHERS DEFENDED ERITREA FROM THE ENEMY,BUT THEY REMAIN DEFENSELESS FROM ISSAYAS AND HIS JUNTA.

        • David March 24, 2013

Cool down, cool down man! We are not going to invade you.

      • jonah March 24, 2013

David you are entitled to you view but what are these people in Tokombiya defending against? I believe the female life expectancy in Eritrea is 62 years old and male is 57years old.
In any other country these people would be in retirement home or retired.. so I don’t think usage is defense it is just control. Also, consider most these people are farmers and uneducated and simple folk.
I am sure government is classifying this home self-defense or something noble.

        • David March 24, 2013

          Jonah,

I can see that you do not respect the Eritrean people.

      Dear Anbesa Eton,
Who ever you are, I beseech you in the name of God, to be humane and compassionate about fellow human beings, more so about your neighbors.

These poor women are victims – victimized twice and more times.

Pfdj is doing all it can to control the minds of all Eritreans. The beastly regime seeks to control every Eritrean being under the guise of Military Service.

It is so sad! So sad that the people Eritrea are condemned to perish by their own men and women (Isayas & co)

      God save Eritrea

      • ኣምበሳ እቶን March 24, 2013

        Selamawit ,

I have been crying for my fellow Eritreans & even deed some in action..but what I got was insult.
About Isaias trying to control Eritrean 50 ++++ old brains..I tell him good luck finding their brains..he will have to look hard.

    • David March 24, 2013

      • tekeste March 24, 2013

      Ambesa Aton
as your name you have no hope !
these mothers are victim of HGDF during their rule which they are doing whatever to them
and if Weyane entered Eritrea, they will be raped by people like you inhuman. So we Eritreans have no place to go but we are recogning our Enemies which are almost the worst are HGDF and Rashaid plus Bedium and in the 2nd place, the whole Arabs, sudan, Egypt, Libya and other Arab countries and in 3rd place people like you who do not like the beauty of Erireans which are almost Weyane.

      • David March 24, 2013

        zERAI ,

iN TRYING TO MAKE A POINT i GOT CARRIED AWAY & WROTE INSENSITIVE COMMENT. pERIOD.The hatchet you are throwing towards me is misplaced. I am an emotional junkie that crossed the line. WORDS DO NOT HURT AS MUCH AS DEEDS..I AM NOT DOING THE KILLING…which some of the socalled innocent mothers have …ullulated to bring this misery. Do not get too emotional ..I am not the enemy…but if you want all of you can burst.

Hurtful fact is better than wishy washy principle.
        thank you all

        • Zerai March 24, 2013

          Ambesa aton
however there were no facts you spoke !!
the facts are that, these living in USA, European women from Eritrea not much of them are supporting HGDF and all are almost known. however if you come to the women inside Eritrea you are 100% in the wrong line. No one supports HGDF inside Eritrea.

          • David March 24, 2013

” No one supports HGDF inside Eritrea. ”

            Zera’i,

Read what you have written? If you continue like that no one is going to take your seriously in the future.

    To the MODERATORS

The subject seems to have changed: from the poor Eritrean women to Anbessa Eton… Perhaps his entry and those followed his should be deleted so people may concentrate on the main subject.
    Just an idea.

    Thanks

      Selamawi ,

Could it be 2000 yrs ago all people said ” crucify him ,crucify Jesus¨and asked for the liberation of an Assasin Barnabas.
I may be alittle darker skinned to be Jesus..but, don´t you think you are asking for the same. Could nñ´t I be the only Normal person among 99 lunatics. It is possible.DO NOT put SENCERSHIP to the truth so that fools can hear eachother.
      thanks

      • Selamawi March 24, 2013

        Dear Anbessa,

I am rather perplexed by your tendency to divert (sounds typical pfdjista) the subject matter from poor 50+ Eritrean women (whom you accused of ululating after Mekele was bombarded over 20 yeas ago; the war was guided by the same perpetrators!)to censorship. You have even dared to compare yourself with Jesus. For your information Jesus was compassionate and defended the poor and disadvantaged – Jesus did not accuse those who supported the authorities that crucified him – which is unlike you!

Please get real and learn some humanity from other human beings (and from Jesus if you can). Logic and commonsense dictates that the medium is used to what it is intended. Thanks

        • tolerate March 24, 2013

          Selamawi,

Jesus also whipped the merchants in the temple .I am not Jesus ,I accept ,I was born in Asmara ,not Israel..but, humanity has with action ,not comment….the older people that send fresh blood to the fronts are the guilty party ..not my insensitive comment. When ever the Tegadeltis asked a strong question like mine….Mesfin Hagos used to instruct them to do..” Zkhri Siwuat”..leading them to emotion. Indeed I am insensitive to generalize..but not all mothers are innocent or without blame. If I were given the choice ..either, to send the 16 – 20 yrs old to front line or this “innocent” mothers..in heartbeat I would send the MOTHERS.
Mothers who kill their own kids are also mothers.

          thank you

      • David March 24, 2013

I guess you can say that about yourself and the guys of Hawassa who get abused in Ethiopia.

  • awet March 24, 2013

What the heck is wrong with the Eritrea people. They have arms, why can they turn the guns to the dams generals? Don’t let them walk free, take them one by one and make a name for your self. I know some of you are saying it’s easy for me to say that seating on my Western comfort, but heck if the same situation occurred where I am, I will so what I am stating should be done. The Eritrea people need to wake up and do something about it. Instead of dying in no man land, die with dignity in your own country fighting for your own rights.

    • David March 24, 2013

You are behaving like an overexcited ghetto kid. If you want to kill people why don’t you start with yourself ? Sorry!

      • yonas March 24, 2013

If i was Ethiopian or according to you woyane ,i would have been proud of my heritage but am Eritrean and proud of it,do you know how melles destroyed issayas and make him ANCHIWA ETON and left him with no credibility no respect and no friends, that’s why you ,essayas and pfdj lap dogs screaming woyane day and night, get over it,but there is one thing you have to know the Eritrean people defeated woyane not once but three times, think what they will do to you and your master tembenay wedi medhen berad.

      Halafi Mengedi ,

I believe your criticism of my comment is fair. You did not send me to Tigray or Oromo.it could be that I am angry at the old people in diaspora & I am taking it out on the people in Eritrea. Fair criticism.
