  1. Eritreans Opposition Parties

The following Opposition Parties were mainly collected from Google, the Fountain of Information.

EDP, EDA, DMLEK, RSADO, NDF, ENSF, EPM, ENCDC, EFND, MEDREK, EMC, ENF, EYSC, AYSNS, EF, GL, ECHIGM, CEPONA , EPP, ENST, AH,  …….. it goes on ………..

  1. Brief Background Narration

It goes without saying that the trumpeted objective of the string of parties (call them Working Groups) is ONE, AND ONLY ONE: >>> to liberate Eritrea from an indigenous Dictator and self-appointed President: Issayas Afewerki Abraha.   If we really believe in that objective, why do we need so-many working groups to arrive at the SAME GOAL? We know the answer. Let us be honest: ‘Eritrea’ does not carry the same GOAL in its belly. Shocking as it may be, IT NEVER HAD. And that is why Issayas Afewerki Abraha succeeded in OWNING a land mass with five -six million people as his private ’servants’ (so to say).  If the word is too poignant, it is because the REALITY of Eritrean History i.e. the horrendous sacrifice made by the Eritrean people for Liberty and Dignity for SEEMINGLY time immemorial, cannot be explained by ordinary expression of words.

There is INHERENT DEEP problem in Eritrea. It must be faced, admitted and solved, one way or the other. Further more, in a global inter-dependent ‘cut-throat’ political relationship, Eritrea — being located on a critical geographical area — cannot exist with its inherent sociopolitical weakness. As the common expression goes: ‘IT IS A CRUEL WORLD’. Is Eritrea strong enough to solve its inherent problem and face international political ‘vultures’?  The answer to that question squarely belongs to Eritreans.

  1. What is Eritreans’ response to the belligerency of Issyas since 1991

The simple honest general answer to the question is ZERO.  Let us see the following  few  facts as examples:

  1. a)When eleven high ranking Eritreans were rounded-up in the middle of a night and taken to oblivion, Eritreans accepted the Dictatorial action with complete silence.
  2. b)When Issayas closed the only University in Eritrea, nobody reacted to such a ‘criminal’ Act [ i.e. deliberately destroying the future development of Eritrea]
  3. c)When Issayas refused the adoption of the Eritrean Constitution,  Eritreans accepted it with murmur
  4. d)When Issayas  progressively ‘killed’ ERITREA in every aspect of sociopolitical and economic system, Eritreans  accepted the ‘slow’ death with murmur.

The above examples are more than enough. One overwhelming fact however must be mentioned.  When Issayas — during a period of twenty-seven (27) years —   was doing the progressive murdering of a nation, Eritreans, for some mysterious phenomenon (OUT of CHARACTER), became docile and accepted the life of slavery!!! Amazing! Shocking!  It was a complete reversal of character, which displayed during 1960 -1990 Liberation Struggle and admired by global witnesses.

Now, observe the action of three Ministers, in cabinet meeting, resigning or asking for resignation {28 Sept 2018} from their posts in protest against the action of Issayas.  It is worth repeating: after twenty-seven (27) years, three members of the world-renowned liberation front woke-up to see the diabolical nature of their close compatriot. They deserve credit,  comparing them against the remaining thirteen (13) of their comrades who are still on sleeping mode.

What is next?  Eritreans will keep on going on exodus mode to various countries around the Globe – including to the “enemy” country of yesteryears, which is now a safe sanctuary [መዕቆቢ] to Eritreans!!! What a reversal! What a deception! What a classical TRAGEDY!

And it is not the END of it. What is evacuated must be filled by ‘other people’. And after the two Red Sea Coastal Ports are amicably negotiated upon, and the question of Badme etc conveniently set aside, what else is left of Eritrea? An insightful Tigrigna saying comes to mind in a situation like this? I hesitate to ‘spell’ it out here in a ‘Family’ Website!!! ደቂ ዓዲ፣ ኣይትሓዙለይ።

  1. Appreciation

Once again, I say – and will say it for endless times – that www.archive.assenna.com deserves a mountain of appreciation for providing us with a PLATFORM to express our views that we are denied to do so in our birth country i.e. LIBERTY to express our views on our own affairs, for our own benefit. Within this prism, I dare being a self-appointed ‘preacher’ that we should NOT ABUSE the wonderful privilege that we are having, at archive.assenna.com, to express our feelings freely. It is NOT a platform to insult, to denigrate and for name-calling at each other but to construct healthy society in our BIRTH PLACE from wherever we may be residing.

THE END Rezen

EPRDF Congress concluded by electing Dr. Abiy Ahmed and Demeke Mekonen as Chairman and Deputy of the ruling party.

Dr. Debretsion of the TPLF was also contesting for the Chairmanship, to only end up with a disappointing result.

    – Dr. Abiy got 176 of 177 votes.
    – Demeke got 149 of the 177 votes, and
    – Dr. Debretsion got only 15 out of the 177 votes.

    • Negash October 5, 2018

Dr Debretsion G/michael doesn’t need to become the PM or deputy PM of Ethiopia.
He has a big task/responsibility to rebuild and to develop Tigray which has been neglected.
If only unfortunate Eritreans were to have two highly progressive leaders like Dr Abiy and
Dr Debretsion. However, I feel there would be a strong man from the army/military like in Egypt.

The article above highlights the fragmentation of the opposition groups. Some are clearly set up to satisfy personal ego and others to create job opportunities for their directors/chair person. Difficult to know how many of these so called opposition groups exist with the Eritrean people’s interest at heart? May be or two, but no more.

The fragmentation of the so called opposition groups is frankly what is sustaining Isaias in power. As such, these opposition groups are as guilty as Isaias himself for the long suffering of the Eritrean people.

Time to wake up and unite. Failure to unite, could leave Isaias in power for another three decades. We will be left waiting for an act of God – a God who has never shown any interest for the Eritrea people.

          Eritrea forever, death to dictatorship.

Thank you Rezen, you are proving to be a real intellettuale. Once i had doubt when some junks evitate insulting you when you comment. really I was wrong. brother, keep teaching us. And also i invite Brother GEZAE quiete the post as the minister of information.

  • k.tewolde October 5, 2018

Rezen,I always enjoy your impassioned posts and now articles, however, the multitude of parties and political opposition groups doesn’t bother me,in fact I support political pluralism and will in the future of the secular Democratic Republic of Eritrea(DRE),the problem is,it is not how many of them are out there,it is what they are not accomplishing with their sheer numbers?do they communicate and coordinate their efforts effectively?can they prioritize and agree and work on a common current goal by relegating their secondary differences? do they have the wherewithal and dedication to foster the cohesion needed to accomplish the goal? and so on. Before we answer these questions, first lets look at them one by one, their ethnic make up,their leadership what methods they use to recruit and attract their members >>>>> the answer is all there. The tyrant studied it early and knew how to unite them to accomplish a common goal and on the contrary he perfected how to divide and conquer them,in other words they are his students in exile trying to beat their maestro at his own game. When a ‘cabinet minister’ asks permission to resign to the ‘chairman’,that explains the Eritrean mystery. In my salaried job when I saw the intention to defraud the taxpayer by management in a meeting,I got up,threw my badge on the table said,’I quit’ walked out and reported the company. That is how you nip a problem in the bud,you see something wrong, you do something about it right then, that hasn’t been the culture of the Eritrean as rezen outlined in a long time and we are paying dearly for it.It is not all lost,we are having a conversation,Eritrea still have enough prudent sons and daughters working hard to lift her up from the doldrums.I am optimistic asserting the glass is half full.

I believe it was Gezae who rightly described you as “paper tigers” – Chairman Mao’s expression…
Behind your screens and comfortable zone you are a fake expert ~ niQulu fitfit teblo, so easy!
But, Eritreans are demanding and waiting for fast actions and real solutions, not big talks or big
analysis of things. We’ve all read so many beautiful articles and fake/meaningless analysis.

      • k.tewolde October 6, 2018

‘Eritreans are demanding and waiting for fast actions and real solutions, not big talks or big….’ are you delivering that instant gratification for them? Mr. Mao?

        • sami October 6, 2018

Dear assenna, your detective Clouseau investigative work is so impressive.
Keep it up and one of these days you might just be lucky
enough to catch a real big fish. So don’t give up and keep chasing them!
Your investigative work is much impressive/pleasant than your lousy
monkey voice and fake so-called Journalism or garbage “journalist” crap.
Thank you for your cooperation and tolerance.

  • sami October 6, 2018

Dearest Mr Rezen, do you really need to praise Amanuel/assenna lemani/beggar scam bag all the time and what for my respected brother Rezen????? This waTa lemani/beggar who calls himself unashamedly a “journalist” is just a kondaf saHsah lemani/beggar, an opportunist gold digger who bloody rips off gullible readers. What the fuck has his lousy shit radio achieved for ordinary Eritreans? Yes, absolutely nothing. And now, more rip offs on “Sat TV” bullshit.

Liberty is defined as the power to act as one pleases. It is a state of independence, of autonomy, of being free from restrictions and of having the right of self-determination. Liberty may be defined in different ways when speaking of it politically, philosophically or religiously. Some may define liberty as the right to do whatever they want, whenever they want, with whomever they want! But most of us realize that liberty comes with restrictions only which is not.

Ayte bahlibi hiruy aka Uncle Siye

As usual, every time there is bad news for Eritreans, mostly caused by your cousin in Asmara, you go sarcastic, cannot hide how much you are happy, the people you hate are suffering.

  • Eyob October 7, 2018

I wonder how ERITREANS expect Dr Abey to work in favor of the voiceless people of Eritrea, ………..he cares only about Aseb/massawa as his grandfathers. As they used to say “”ኤርትራ መሬታ እምበር ህዝባ ኣየድየናን ፞፞፞’ዩ””

    Rezen
    Well said.
I remember many of your writing in the past. Timely and good message. Thank you.
Thank you beloved Assenna radio and website for your service.
What killed Eritrean’s chance for change sooner was the multiplying of group of oppositions. I agree. Now, it is too late for our people. We are back to the 1950. The only difference is back in the 1950,we still had our brights and bravest young Eritreans. Most our people in diaspora supported DIA without any reservation. Here we are we have left nothing. DIA took our freedom, our future and now our identity. DIA is not responsible for this, we are. We couldn’t take out one man and his family. Now we are paying for it. I don’t know, if we have still hope to overcome this. Where is the EDF? Where are the people who were armed not long ago? What are they waiting for? Are they waiting, until Ethiopians come for them door to door? Go for the dictator and his BS family now. I don’t know, if we are going down, shouldn’t we go down kicking and screaming.
