Egyptian Prison chiefs and Eritrean Embassy in Cairo collaborate to forcefully deport Eritrean refugees in contravention of Human rights conventions.

Eritrean Embassy officials in Cairo have been given free access to Aswan Prison in Egypt and are working hand in hand with prison officers there to coerce Eritrean refugees sign deportation documents and go back

Eritrean Embassy officials in Cairo have been given free access to Aswan Prison in Egypt and are working hand in hand with prison officers there to coerce Eritrean refugees sign deportation documents and go back to Eritrea unwillingly; in breach of Human rights conventions.

According to sources, yesterday 9th November, Eritrean Embassy staff came and tried to force the Eritrean prisoners to sign a deportation form which says “willingly to return to Eritrea”.  When they refused to do so, the Eritrean Embassy staff, Idris, spoke with the prison guard, and then the guards severely beat the prisoners for refusing.

The prisoners have been told that they will be returned to Eritrea today.

It is important to note most if not all of the prisoners had been arrested in the south of the country, very far from the heavily militarised and sensitive border region in Sinai. They are not a threat to national security, and had not trespassed into the conflicted region, so their treatment is completely in contravention to various Human Rights Conventions.

Last week, 118 Eritrean refugees were tortured by Aswan prison guards to sign repatriation documents.

Forced deportation of Eritrean refugees in Egypt is already underway.

Radio ERENA has become one of the must-listen radio stations about Eritrea in a short period of time. I am glad Eritrean journalists are using all the good opportunities they got to spread the voices of freedom and liberty in free press.
I am glad that Eritrea has such dedicated and hard working professional journalists.
The only good that came out of Eritrea in the last ten years is the number of dedicated independent journalists. I am glad they are following the footsteps of Yohanes Joshua, Sium Tsehaye … many others.
I want to thank Ato Yonathan Habte for the program he organized on Sunday, Nov 6, 2011 to remember and to pay tribute to the Eritrean victims in the Sinai desert in Egypt.
The Sunday program is available in Erena’s archives.

      Hgdef,

If your parents raised you to be “sidi”, you do that at your home….Here you behave like you do in the neighborhood where you live in the west….you know only a “slave mentality” disrespcts his people but is afraid of other type of pepople. By the way “meni iyu tweikha” that you keep Woyane’s. Eritrea has it’s issues and we brave children of Eritrea will solve it…we are not going to blame any one else…..Stop this old game of pointing a finger at the outsider to keep the family united. …..It is not only archiace it is sick. ….Mariam Tehagzkha zi hawey.

    Hgdef:
    what are you talking about?
it is not hgdef who give our people to learn in univeristy while your dump leader closed our Asmara univerisy and instead opens military camps.
it is woyane, or Ethiopia who helps on getting our people to get a peaceful shelter, while your dump leader says they are for picknic
so you are looser, indeed you know it as well…

You stupid weyane agent! you know nothing about the University of Asmara. Let me tell you about it. It was an advanced high school producing mainly high school teachers. Every year it was only capable of accepting 500 new students and graduating about 500 teachers in chemistry, biology math, phy, english, accounting and economics, soil and water conservation, crop production and diploma in law. No more than that. Now it have has been developed it into an institution with multiple colloges in AdiKeih, Hamelmalo, Massawa, and Halhale teaching in different areas of specialization. In Addition to it we have now the Orota School of Medicine, Asmara nursing school, Mainefhi Institute of technology. Before there was only one tech, school now there are one in mai habar, in Dekemhare, Hgaz, tsabra.

If you believe that Ethiopia is giving better education to Eritreans tell all your relatives to go there. and we will see what will happen to them at the end of the day. It will not be long untill they smuggle themselves to sudan or Kenya and become retail sellers on the streets.

        Dear HGDEF

What you are writing is totally false and the reason is that you do not have any clue with the university of Asmara. I know it has a lot of shortages but but trust me it reaches its pinnacle during the years 2000 just before closing its doors. Regarding size the university used to have a capacity of around 3000 students and it has been diversified within a short period of time including many programs from engineering( mechanical, electrical and civil), computer science , law, statistics, pharmacy , medical laboratory, health practitioners , nurses, agricultural engineering in addition to above you mentioned. But you are ignorant the best thing about the university of Asmara is producing quality teachers particularly for science major as they are backbone for developing country like Eritrea. Because high school science teachers are the foundation for the future of any country let alone a new nation Eritrea. In addition this is the university internationally recognized, even the Orota students are most of them are part of excellent students and graduate of university of Asmara. But one thing you if you are aware all institution in Eritrea are not recognized even the so called Medical school, and they are not recognized to practice in any part except Eritrea.

        • sol November 11, 2011

Even with its limited resources and budget, and academic freedom, University of Asmara able to graduate many competent students within its short life since EPLF comes to power. One thing you have to know that though i am happy for the opening of many colleges that you talk about most of their staff are graduates of the University of Asmara, and because of the regime act, now it is a blessing to have university of Asmara graduate in Eritrea, and now most of them will be filled by poorly trained Indians, and the funny thing is non of these institutions are recognized by the international institution. Because these institutions are not created to solve Erirea human resource crisis rather to keep the youth as an advanced level of saw high school. But still there are many smart students even there but I really question their training due to the fault of the institution they are studying.

          • sol November 11, 2011

If you want to know about the quality of those graduated from the University of Asmara , you will find them very competent in South Africa, Europe, and USA. But i have not encountered any one who is graduate from military colleges. You will find them may of them pursue advanced degree in various developed countries. The first thing the Institution check is if your courses are equivalent to their using international standard but i do not think the military run colleges not only offer them by they do not have the institutional capacity to standardized their courses.

        Hgdef,

Quit your filthy mouth and disrespect those that raised you by manifesting a behaviour you only learnt at home. Forget it every able intellectual, every brave hero that spoke truth, every hones Eritrean dreads this dictator. Let me guarantee you it is an open secret this Dictaor owned three books ab “meda” in Sahel…. Machiavali book, Stalin book & let me shock Haileselassie book…..he is guided by these three men in combination to his doomsday….whereas the world changed than what these three people he is trying to emulate….Technology has changed….Chinese even changed they like captiatlism. Russians forget it they are endowed by Natural Gas export and could care less of communism. He is left high and dry in fear & control, he uses Haile Selassie technique of divide rule, he tries to re-design the society of Eritrea….He can not not, I give him credit there is a havoc he created the reason families are in disarray both in and out of Eritrea.

        Good on you HGDEF

I really appreciate your explanation. I was on of the students in the University of Asmara. It was exactly what you have explained. I am the witness. starting from the fresh man till we graduate we were studying all the day and night (in room 117, 107, 105 . . . Library on the corridors).

Comparing to those graduating at this time the knowledge is by far better at this time. Relive or not till 2000 almost all of the university students do not know the computer. But now . . . . .. And this is just because of the committed government of Eritrea.

        Abid Ibud,

Then start from the top….All Tigreans are still living in Eritrea with no problem….except you dream to create there is this enemy outside …..Quit the old game of watch out the outsider and keep the family tight….that is total crab….the big enemy of Eritrea is DIA …who has disrespected it’s heroes, men of men unlike you, religious leaders unlike you know…..Worst he created a cult where people like you worship him like God….. I give wodi Afeworki credit that he knows people like you are zealots and when the going get’s tough you will behave like those we have in green square screaming for the dictator…..where were they when the hero children of Libya rolled to Tripoli? Wher were they when they punched Gadaffi’s nose in the streets and drainage pipes of Sirte? Only cowards behave like them and Zemach like you.

It is sad and unfortunate to have a government who treats its’ citizens this way. Forsure the Ambassador
mission is to claim those youth and hand them to their slave master in Asmara. We know the government
plot is for no good reason because they are considered as enemies. I hope they get help from somewhere else.
And the once inside the country should organize themselves and fight for their liberty, it is not getting better
    so got to be stopped.

Radio Erena’s Nov 11, 2011 live transmission by Yonathan Habte regarding the Eritrean victims is very impressive and keenly followed through out the world and Eritrea. This is a thoughtful historical tribute and memorial paid while the Hgdef regime has denied the Eritrean victims.
    Visit http://www.erena.org , click Live
This will be very successful to the Eritreans resisting inside Eritrea and outside.
    Thank you

    Dear Barontu,
I listened to the clip. It is very strange indeed. They know very well that most of the victims are Eritreans but the PFDJ regime would not acknowledge them as such. They called them illegal migrants…
PFDJ is the most illegal system (no constitution, no rule of law, no legal system, no accountability, no right to legal process – well, there is none!, no chance to see your loved ones when you are in their primitive jails/detention centers, no return to from the trenches, no change of leader/s, no decency, no elections, no, no, no…) and yet it calls its dead citizens illegal…

I thought decent human beings would respect their dead but I am deeply disturbed by the PFDJ attitude towards the dead, and towards the living for that matter.

    Thanks

How sad is that people fighting for no F***ing reason. Eritrean people need to wake up and come back to reality. It seems like they are living in a fantasy land. They are totally blinded by Esayas lies. The Eritrean president doesn’t give a shit about his country or his people. He cares more about his power and his lavish life. Why do you think so many young man and woman flee the country every day. Because he is adectator just like the Libyan President.
