To refugees sitting in the dark rooms of deportation centers, let us tell them that we will sit with them in the dark and hold their hands until we can make it to help them see the bright side of life.
For all the broken promises and temporary “help the refugees laws” in the making, for all the traumatized children in the jungle of refugees’ camps, let us tell them that there is an alternative to this life of dirt and humiliation.
Let us make them believe that the glorified international meetings and limousines parked outside carrying those officials can be turned to a “believe me” work for them.
Let us hold their hands tight before we lose them forever to those prisons waiting for them saying “welcome back to me, now I will chew you and spit all I cannot digest of your tortured bodies”.
Let them have a chance before they leap to the unknown and before they are lost again, this time to a dungeon.
Refugees might be unknown to us, nameless and maybe never to be seen again. They are the outcome of broken promises and fake encounters. They are those who believed that salt looks like sugar and followed traffickers to their damnation and the abyss of pain.
Our side needs to show loyalty to human beings, integrity and above all stand by them when all is crumbling around them. When the “refuge” they believed to have found becomes a cathexis of fear.

What a message. In a small article you captured the pains, the suffering and the humiliation the refugees are going through. It is timely message when 700 Eritrean refugee are due to be deported from USA. It is a moment in time to organise protests, appeal for amnesty etc. The Eritrean refugees are innocent who left Eritrea to live in freedom away from the oppression of PFDJ.

Two world upon situation, one is simply ( on poverty ) but free. The other one is more complicated ( even with richness ) but forced to flee, the last but ( with out destiny ) clear enough to pinpoint what is the cause / by whom?
However, the foto on the above is easy to understand apart give me emotion and home sickness. perhaps could be hard for Dawit and his evil partners. thus why we are different exactly when sane makes a circle from right ( መገዲ እግዚኣብሀር) the other ( ሱንኩል ኣእሙሮ ) on the opposite.

Hi all, allow me to send this note to Dawit.
The issue is not the reason this kind of political pandemonium exists in our country.
The issue here is 700 Eritreans lined up and ordered to walk straight to a plane. Their hands and feet handcuffed to the seats of said airplane. The issue is that these people want to live just like you and me and offer their families a future of choices. The issue is personal choices. Like you and I decided to have at one point or another.
The issue here for all of us is to understand that if there is a truck speeding towards 700 human beings we need to rush and grab some of them and save them. The readers we are, we chose {one way or the other} to live abroad. Why are we not in Eritrea? We all long to feel our own land beneath our feet.
Now Dawit, please, I ask with all cordiality and respect towards you and your beliefs to put politics aside. I ask you to be the one that lend a hand to women and men alike that want to be where you are and want to achieve all you have achieved. I belong to no political party. Like my late husband told me before dying at the hands of his torturers during the Ethiopian occupation of our country, we all belong to Eritrea. Period.
Being a refugee woman myself, at one time I felt it safer to run away from Eritreans because all they discussed was politics, who is right and who is wrong and their voices’ noise was so loud that it hurt more than the fear, the pain….. They were not there for me. I became a pawn in their political game. I was just a refugee holding her kids tight. But when I decided to look around me, I realized that there were others going through worse. I became strong for my kids. And today I tell other refugees to be strong, because Eritreans are good people. My husband always told me “An Eritrean is never alone” many proved him right. I hope you will join those that proved him right by helping refugees. Forget politics. Let’s help 700 of our nationals.
We cannot discuss politics as long as we have human beings staring at us and breaking down with pain. Pain stares at you in the mirror with tears streaming down your face and you are begging yourself to control your voice and make your case heard by an Immigration officer.
Pain is also 700 Eritreans wanting to write to you, but they are denied that right. So silence is their best description for the pain they are crossing. They send you and me their heavy silence.
Refugees’ status does not discriminate. It hits and it hits hard. You and I, let us make our pain a blessing in disguise and help those that are now sitting at the exact bench in life you and I were.
I do not need Petros, I do not need Tewolde, Ahmed nor Danilo’s help. Because they are already at refugees’ center. They are giving their time, their money, their knowledge to help refugees; be it from Eritrea or Burma. I need yours. I need you to open your laptop and sign a petition. To save Eritreans from debilitation. From feeling worthless, from believing that we are a failure. And as long as we point fingers to one another by digging past politics while 700 of our nationals are forced to cross that ocean, that Sinai desert again and again ….in the eyes of other nations….worthless we become indeed!
I thank you. I trust– that just like I did in my life – you will put your anger aside and see the real picture. Refugees are human beings. One Eritrean refugee staring at you and me with fear, one too many.
I thank you a double fold because I hope and feel you will be one that tells refugees “AN ERITREAN IS NEVER ALONE” and never let refugees be alone.

thanks Danilo. I learn from pain and I learn from each of you. Humbleness is the rule to help refugees. So we eliminate “refugee status” from our generation and our future generations. As you said, to be refugee is to be humiliated…and more…. It’s painful and becomes a stigma. . Eritreans we are known for being polite. A civilized dialogue will make us reach the finish line together while respecting different political opinions.
Now it is only time to help these 700 Eritreans before deportation takes place. Please make many sign the petition in the USA and also the one going on in Switzerland.

Your are asking for help from a person who using multiple nicknames is working hard to instigate a civil war in Eritrea. Someone who belongs to an organization that want Saho and Jeberti to be ethnically cleansed from Eritrea so that a so-called Agazian nation can be built on land they will vacate.

We are running out of time and negativity should never be a priority. We focus on making the wrong right for refugees. You can do that. Let us give our/this time to help refugees.
