This is a learning example of serious reality in our modern world politics . And for parents and Eritrean communities in
diaspora it sends warning message in regard of our young generations environment dangerous exposures .
Many parents mainly hard core HGDF supporters try to influence their children with their unfounded and corrupted mentality
full of hatred and divisions which can lead some kids into unwarranted and confused state of mind . The same goes to those
who involve at illegal activities . In such kind of events we Eritreans share the guilt of failure .

Blame bbc and blame the guy who want to fight in Iraq

    • wolde August 12, 2014

This topic deals with an X-Christian and currently muslim. Where is your problem?

  • Fikre August 10, 2014

@ WOW next time Amanuel will ask you whether he should post certain news articles or not. grow up okay? you have nothing to tell us about him, we know better. so don’t bother. go try your luck somewhere else. representative of Christianity? you are such a low life. pfdj monkey.

  • fetsum abraham August 10, 2014

this is unfortunate but I hope he is ok. I pray for him and his family to be safe.
All commentators are welcome to read my articles at the Kunama Party site http://www.mesel-biherat.com/. Assenna has censored my article “religion and women” and I have moved on posting my works at the Kunama site. I have two articles there that you did not see at assenna and visit them if u are interested. I will have few more posted there from now on till the end of this year and see you there. I miss you and thank you for your participation in the past.

    • Statestic August 10, 2014

Thanks Fetsum, we miss you too!!!

    • Tsehaye August 10, 2014

      Fetsum,

I am shocked to learn that Amanuel Iyasu (assenna) has decided not post your articles because they are of religion and women nature. It is very sad that Amanuel has finally succumbed to the fanatical extremists and the useful idiots. No wonder we are still unable to dislodge the most evil regime on this planet earth. The road to emancipating the Eritrean people is a light year away with such a Shaebian look-alike opposition. Neither the fanatics nor the useful idiots are going to see that bright day.

I have a suggestion Fetsum. How about posting your articles in the most tolerant website, asmarino.com? Amanuel Iyasu is a business man and not a journalist. He cannot afford to loss his customers. His website is run with the annual fundraising activities.

      Ertrawian meguhaiti!

      • Mightyembasoyra August 10, 2014

This is surprising. Ago Fitsum is an icon of Assenna. Now he is banned.
I would expect Assenna to be more tolerant. In this case, the forum is the loser. Did i see my hpe of free press just dashed in front of my eyes. I am very disappointed, to say the least.
Who is next? I would say it is us.
Hey, the active members of this forum should at least strike. Unjust for one is unjust for all.
Until a to Fitsum comes back, I am out of Assenna.
        Anyone?

        • ahmed saleh August 11, 2014

          Mightembasoyra
Assenna opened a door to give people chance to meet at its forum for social and political discussion . And we
witnessed some participants voices who invite for unhealthy arguments and confrontations . Assenna staff have
also obligation to protect the credibility and value of their site .
Concerning brother Fetsum , in the beginning he attracted huge number of readers and we expressed our support
to his ideas but his latest articles shifted away from its impressive original quality .
At the end the blame goes to ourselves for ignoring the simple rule not to cross the line .

      • fetsum abraham August 15, 2014

        Tsehaye;
I will try to post the censored article at asmarino and awate and I hope they will post it. But i advice u to keep helping assenna no matter what happened.

    • Tes August 11, 2014

      Dear Fetsum,
I am dismayed to learn your article had been censored and barred by assenna. This is typical Eritrean mind who could not tolerate or accommodate to intellectuals who are capable of thinking outside the box. Mr Fetsum is high caliber intellectual who try to share his thoughts about certain issue which is assumed as taboo by many. To take that unnecessary unjust measure to censor by assenna deify all logic. I though Assenna is a website which promote justice and democracy but I start to doubt it now. How in earth an information outlet be intimidated by few fanatic Islamist who bark louder whenever issue related to their narrow beliefs arises . So assenna if you are trying to please to those few islamist you are wrong, soon or latter they should be confronted and dealt with. I think you should consider and review your procedure or rules and allow different invaluable articles , not only that please you.

      • ahmed saleh August 11, 2014

        Tess
I think Amanuel explained what happened but your accusation is offending and disappointing to hear from commentators
like you who myself I admire .

      • Tekeste August 12, 2014

        Kubur Haw Tess,
You so rightly put it and said it eloquently. “So Assenna if you are trying to please to those few Islamist you are wrong, sooner or later they should be confronted and dealt with”. In other word, “Hilmi ferihika keydekesika ayhiderin” indeed. Thanks again brother Tess. Let’s also be united in getting our highly respected brother Ato Fetsum Abraham back to Assenna as soon as possible.

      • fetsum abraham August 15, 2014

        Dear amanuel;
I thank u for this but I am sure you know that we could have compromised if you had given this a chance. Ur way of communication at one shot level is not good for any one. issues like this need to be seriously argued upon not shut off at one shot level of communication. The censored article was about gender and radical christianity, a different subject matter from gender and radical Islam. It was very important to assure our neutrality between Islam and christianity on the issue of gender. Therefore, I disagree with your comment.
I have a problem with “we have reassured you several times on our email communication” because we did not discuss the issue enough. You had no response to my last mail and you shut it off right there. You also said
“no one has censored your articles or banned you from assenna” but my question is what then did you do with the article? A disallowed article is censored to my understanding. I don’t believe we had topics of division but rather dealing with tabboos that stood in the way of our unity. The censored article was indeed something that would have helped said division because it was mainly on the opposite side of the topic (Radical christianity and women) for the most part. You did not want to continue the discussion after I explained how important it was but rather continued on closing the issue at that point of exchange. I would have done more in you position my brother and enjoy> I am open to discuss the article here upside down in public if you may my brother and God bless you for your hard work. What u censored, however, the Kunams found it the opposite and posted it in their website without a problem. With love and respect

“I would expect Assenna to be more tolerant. In this case, the forum is the loser. Did i see my hpe of free press just dashed in front of my eyes. ”

    Mightyembasoyra

Brother, we better focus on our main problems, else we will continue discussing religion and ethnicity for years to come, without reaching any consensus about them.
People like Tsehaye at Asmarino.com have nothing to lose, in fact the more we disagree on such issues and fail to work together, it’s good for their Ethiopianist agendas.
Mr. Fetsum could do better if he tries to bring us together instead of adding fuel to the fire.

    • Mightyembasoyra August 11, 2014

      Wedi Hager,
I value your view the same as Fitsume’s or Genet’s or Ahmed’s. Unless we have people like Fitsum, who questions anything or anyone, our democracy is in question itself.
I would react the same way if you were banned from this forum.
Having independent mind is healthy, my brother wedi Hager.

Excellent observation and very well said brother. This so-called WediHager is just an opportunist loser. He comes to Assenna with different pen names and acts as a genuine WediHager when he is just an extreme fanatic Islamist. By the way, he is also known as Hagherawi (Sheikh Arebawi), Kalighe, and Fithawi. Assenna and everyone else should know his empty/fake acts and threats to others.

You got it right. If he feels changing his nicks would give him the edge and personal satisfaction, good for him. It is an era of the invisible and “b’al lahmi zhadmelu, b’al qorbet (such as wediHager) dma zwagu’elu”. zemen ya grmbit mai n’aqeb. And without shame, they are so bold enough to calling us “neo-andnets and Ethiopianists”. weizom resahat!

  • WediHagher August 11, 2014

“Having independent mind is healthy, my brother wedi Hager.”

    Mightyembasoyra

I agree, but if we don’t prioritize our tasks we won’t achieve our goals.
Freedom of speech is a corner stone of democracy, but at the moment we need to avoid any thing that weakens us from within. If we fail to stand together we won’t be able to gather enough energies to bring about a positive change in our country. So first let’s have our country back while keeping a good eye on our priorities, and discussing every issue we need for the task at hand. An inquisitive mind is necessary as long as it’s not a waste of time (it shouldn’t be about trying to determine the gender of the angels).

  • Genet-orginal August 11, 2014

I am sorry, but this guy sounds he is out of his mind.

  • Genet-orginal August 11, 2014

    To Mighty, ahmed, Wedhagher.

I am surprised as any one else, why Mr Fetsum’s article is “banned” from Assenna. I would like to hear from Amanuel and Assenna directly commenting about this issue. If Mr Fetsum’s work is really banned from Assena Forum, Assenna readers have to ask, on what ground. Is there is Assenna’s policy and regulation that wasn’t respected by Mr Fetsum? Who made the case against Fetsum’s work? If it is because of the last article, Assenna could have pulled that article away right there and then. Assenna has a right to do that. As far as I am concern, it is not wise to just block a writer without any explanation. It is all about respect of this great website and its readers. Mr Fetsum belongs at Assenna. This is his home. I hope Assenna and Fetsum solve their differences soon, so we can go back to sharing information and learning.
    Genet-O

  • ahmed saleh August 11, 2014

    Genet
I respect your opinion to reconcile their differences . But at the same time respect Assenna staff to take critical
step for efficient control on their site to congregate a team of writers that shares ideas of same goal same
values which can assist redirect the political movement toward the larger picture of common purposes . Western
media organizations expel any journalist who don’t value their reputation . Democracy or free speech have also
crisscross lines to be aware about limitations .
If ASSENNA sensed the invisible loopholes of a writer which spring up like weeds as in any organization to build
factions within its participants , they have a right to take action for the sake to preserve unity .
Myself , more than once advised Fetsum to rethink about his late articles but in contrary he tried to invite me for
unnecessary and illogical arguments which I choose to ignore . I don’t know , just it is sad to end that way .

    • Genet-orginal August 13, 2014

      Mr ahmed saleh
I agree with your point Democracy and free speech shouldn’t be abused. And you are right Assenna has a right to regulate it’s website however it wants. We all know Assennna has been dedicated in being the voice for the voiceless Eritreans. Mr Fetsum always included in his article good words about Assenna and Amanuel. I understand Assenna’s concern about topics that have potential generating controversial discussions. However, we all have to be held accountable for our ill advised contribution, to any controversial topics as well. If I cry foul about a topic I don’t like, is Assenna obligated to tell a writer to tone it down or else? What I usually do when I see controversial topic is ignore it. Regarding Fetsum and Assenna’s disagreement, it doesn’t have to end this way or that way, because of one or two articles. They can come to a mutual agreement for the benefit of their readers. I thought justice seekers are better than this. Thank you.

    Assenna says,
    to Mr Festum
First of all we appreciate the contribution you have made to assenna and its readers.
However, as we have reassured you several times on our email communication no one has censored your articles or banned you from assenna. We had some concerns regarding your last article, which was about religion and gender, a subject you wrote about 4-5 times. In fact we didn’t rush to react and expected you to change the theme yourself. Despite our tolerance you simply continued and we had to politely remind you to change the subject as you had extensively addressed and discussed the issue. Readers can have a look at Mr Festum’s previous articles and the comments they generated.
Although you are free to write about any subject, religion is not our main focus. At the same time we can’t tolerate comments which may be a source of division while we are all trying to bring our society together. After all, we have the a duty to regulate the website in line with our main goal which is promoting freedom of expression and facilitating democratic change without doing any harm to the unity of our community.
As we have declared it time and again, contributors and commentators of the forum have to use their freedom responsibly and we have to step in to moderate it if they fail to do so.
    Thanks
    Amanuel

thank you Assenna for the clarification. now though i am asking myself whether you Mr. Fetsum, told us the whole truth about what happened between you and Assenna. i am one of those commentators who admire Mr.Fetsum. your last articles however caused people with extremist agendas to dominate the discussion with their destructive comments. among those were comments of people who found your article destructive. i went back after i saw your comment which stated that you were censored. here are some comments i found there.
Tedros in the article before last said,
    Fetsum
Again; the answer is very simple; as simple as clean water. we have said it over and over again why are we still talkig about it. Let’s get rid off the big Elephant; once we have him removed ; we can hold a national debit; and it will be decided by the people; to the people period. But; if we still taliking in a particular issue all the time day in and day out; then priority work will never get it done; and it will dragging us behind as same time it wii divert concentraion of the people to different direction.

    Festum Abraham said,
    Tedros;
This is the last article on the subject but I had to complete it to my satisfaction because the forum was busy by people involved in this topic: I had to address it somehow before closing it. Your advice is accepted and thank you.

    i said,
    Dear Mr. Fetsum,
your tireless effort to raise awareness about issues of concern to Eritrea is vital and much appreciated. i am aware that we need to be vigilant, but at the same time we need to consider the timeliness of your article here. others may be working hard to antagonize Eritreans based on religion and ethnicity but it only shows that they do not have our interest at heart. i know you are not like them. the fact is some intruders are trying to come among us. i also want to alert my fellow countrymen to report such intruders to Assenna. for we need to watch out. and next time Brother Fetsum come up with an article on Christian fundamentalism because it is rampant too.

    Fetsum Abraham said,
    Rahwa;
I have written so many articles on Christian fundamentalism in the past.

    Pawlos said,
Hagherawi, Hagherawi of which Hager and of which continent? Definitely NOT of our Eritrea or Africa. More hagherawi of the unknown Arab world or hagherawi of the Pakistani/Afghan talibans. My comment was meant only for native Eritrean and Africans.
The Muslim Tigrignas that is the ones from Tigray residing presently in Eritrea, when they can hardly come up with any difference to warrant a separate identity (say, as different ‘biher’),they have to entirely invent its to the slave master Arabs language and culture. Thus, the alien Arabic language is designed not simply because it puts a distance between the Muslims and the rest of the Tigrignas highlanders, but because that same traversed distance brings them closer to the Arab world. We can easily see how this search for Arab identity comes in the form of linguistic colonization, when one imposes an alien language (Arabic) on oneself, be it in naming or dragging a native language closer to it or even outright preferring it to one’s language. In short, it is all called identity crisis and we can describe the uprooted state of mind as simply “happily self-colonized”. BUT, never ever any chance for an alien Arab language or culture in our Eritrea. PERIOD.

ahmed Omer writes, “Eritrea Muslims said together Arabic is our Language …last word to the haters nothing to get from the hate except the hate .”
Is this reason you hate yourself and burned your own language? Is this the reason you don’t want to stand in front of the mirror and face your true self? What is the root cause that makes you hate yourself, your identity, languages and heritage?
What makes you look worthless in front of the savage Arabs? When will you learn to stand up for the languages and history of your mother you had in Tigray or in Barka? What is the source of your inferiority complex?
Why did the elite Muslims in Jabha burn Eritrean languages? Was this the purpose of your so called Sawra, i.e. too burn Eritrean languages and Arabize Eritrea?
If you can not stand for your own heritage and identity, you will stand for nothing except kneel down for your masters.

I found most of the comments from all sides are taste less. We have a say, if I am not mistaken it says:-” Merawi kay haza arki rsi yedeleya..”. We don’t even have a country, and here we are arguing about language and hatred. I always believe dictator Isayas is and will be in power as long as we are divided. The secret of his strength is our weakness. I do not get it why the topic raised at this time. Ato Festum definitely knows it is not a right time to bring the issue now. Even though he has a right to say what ever he wants, but if he wants his message to be heard he should not spread some hatred against what he call them Moslem fundamentalist..( please we do not want Eritrean George Bush). To conclude neither Ato Fustum nor the others can decide the future of Eritrean languages. Let’s get our country back, then we can rise all the concerns we have including the issue of language and religion.

Indeed, little knowledge is dangerous but with more ignorance & arrogance is far more damaging. Mr Ibrahim, why don’t you lecture your kind of history to your own children or at your Muslim Kindergarten places. In short, please spare us your bluffs or jokes as we are not in a mood for your kind of desert comedy. Let us remind you that Abssinian (Eritrean & Ethiopian) highlanders have a very deep and long lasting connection with the Judeo – Christian system of belief. This belief system was accepted voluntarily, with no coercion or imposition involved. Highlanders Christianity has a very Jewish flavour, which is different from European Christianity. On the other hand, Islam is based on one of the Pogan moon gods of Mecca. It is an alien death loving religion and ideology. This religion is by the Arabs and for the glory of the Arabs. Islam has rarely spread without violence and killings. All the great civilizations in the neighbourhood were invaded, Islamised and Arabised by force (Iran & India only partially). Conquered people are given 3 choices, namely, to convert to Islam, to pay Jizah (poll tax) and live as second class citizens or to be killed. Converted people have to totally abandon their culture, belief system, even language (Most non-Arab Muslims are forced to learn how to read & write Arabic). According to the Arab Islam religion all pre-Islamic culture and tradition is considered as Jahilliyah (Ignorance). Simply put, No sneaking of ARABAIZATION in/of Eritrea.

I don’t think it is inappropriate at all, to discuss about any topic, that has potential barrier to our unity and harmony at this time. Don’t you think, we should sort things out as we go? As long us our discussion is healthy and we have respect to one anther, we should start the conversation now. We just need civility to solve our problem. My thought.

That is my impression and it would be interesting to ask especially the Muslims of our brothers in this forum, who do not except us Christians from their “brotherhood/sisterhood”, whether they feel treated respectfully or not.
And a further point is, when the right time to dicuss an issue?
To me it is not about not dicussing at all but the right way and at the right time with the right energy/space compared to other more urgent issues.

Thank you sister, you are a true Eritrean. Eritrean Muslims are peace loving people. Those who are provoking them may not be Eritreans as the Forum is open even to those who are trying to divide us along sectarian lines, or a few who do not have Eritrean interests at heart.

We have serious problem from lack of knowledge for the way on how get rid Eritrea from negative overloads

you are right Tekeste. my cheap talks and lectures as you call them are opinions of an Eritrean who wants to avoid unnecessary confusion. and from your comment i can see you were happy by the disruption Mr. Fetsum’s articles caused. we saw many people calling each other names and pointing fingers at one another, if you enjoyed it is not for me to judge but you need to remember we are all here to have constructive discussions. we don’t need to give foreign intruders, people who have their own agendas have a monopoly on our issues and discussions because they intend to cause hate and disunity among us. so grow up and stop insulting people.

So first let’s have our country back while keeping a good eye on our priorities, and discussing every issue we need for the task at hand. An inquisitive mind is necessary as long as it’s not a waste of time (it shouldn’t be about trying to determine the gender of the angels).

this shows this person can have a dialogue with someone while you apparently can’t.

          Rahwa
The forum belong to us and we have obligation to preserve its reputation . To stand on the side
of Amanuel Iyassu dedication and determination for the cause of our people is our obligation .
What we see is personalities of principled and two faced dubious people . Keep it up anyway .

          • rahwa August 13, 2014

you are right Ahmed Saleh, i totally agree, we need to speak up whenever we have something to say. honestly i am really shocked to see that some people only see what they want to see. the fact that certain people chose to make Assenna the culprit when we saw what went on when the last two of Mr. Fetsum’s articles were posted shows they enjoyed the destructive discussion. it would have been tragic had these unprincipled (one or two)people been the only commentators on this forum. we know the majority have Eritrea’s good at heart, they are principled, peace loving, considerate, moderate. no one has monopoly on this forum and these certain extremists who crying foul because they could no longer spread poison need to remember that.

          The disingenuous Rahwa,

Why did you leave the following comment of wediHager from your copy and paste hobby,

          WediHager to Mightyembasoyra:

“Brother, we better focus on our main problems, else we will continue discussing religion and ethnicity for years to come, without reaching any consensus about them.
People like Tsehaye at Asmarino.com have nothing to lose, in fact the more we disagree on such issues and fail to work together, it’s good for their Ethiopianist agendas.
Mr. Fetsum could do better if he tries to bring us together instead of adding fuel to the fire.”

Now, do you agree with his characterization or calling Eritreans as “Ethiopianists”?

          • Tekeste August 13, 2014

            Tsehaye Anbessa Wedi Anbessa Arkey,
Ignore these bunch of losers and eriyirayat. Desperate people say and do desperate things like this low life scum so-called “WediHager” or more like “WediArabawi”. In short and sadly, it is a case of ‘aytibikey endiyu zebikiyin zelo’. It is unfortunate truth that Christian Eritreans will always remain a self-hating society that will neither be Arab nor Habesha, they are the lost sheep that made a strategic blander by siding with Arabs against 70% of their own ethnic family in Ethiopia. And about the calling us of “neo-andnets & Ethiopianists”, it is more sicking and unacceptable when it comes from the ones who were dumped by Ras Alula in Eritrea like WediArabawi & ahmed saleh that is mebeqolom zeytefelte guhafat. The disingenuous Rahwa is nothing but cheer leader of the ganta Arabawiyan team.

tsehaye aka tekeste aka tekie aka hmm: and then another pen name (???)you are funny! you are a sad person talking to himself. that is called a monologue, and when you start talking aloud you will have to check into Kidisti Mariam urgently. a man of five pen names, get this in your narrow-minded head, Ahmed Saleh and i are discussing something of importance not only to us but also to our people and our Eritrea. you on the other hand are not even Eritrean. it is evident to anyone who reads your comments. now by that i don’t mean that there are no Eritreans who talk nonsense but your agenda (???)is written all over it. if you think you can boss people around my advice to you is go to hell. the other sad thing about you is you are patting your own shoulder.what a loser! i cannot believe i am seeing your garbage of comments here because you have nothing constructive to say. ban the man of 5 pen names from Assenna forum. well he can go to aiga or …..

Brothers Tekeste, Tsehaye & Tess well said indeed. This rahwa or shall we call her ‘mekera miseriya’ is a small drama queen attention seeker. And that old ‘Aregit jebeli’ ahmed salih is a left over of a criminal ELF failed front. What you get from aregit jebeli and aregit felasit is a complete fake comedy act or couples. rahwa (mekera) stop over acting as a genuine “halayit” of Eritreans peace.

          Poor Tekie
Your comment reflects the same personality of people I usually try to avoid in my daily activity . Sorry , I
can’t help you . Haters lowlife people like you can’t see part of the beauty in life .
By the way is Tekie a new comer or one of the coward NEFAHITO who change identities in this forum ? TAEBAN WAHD .

      Dear assenna
The censored article “religion and women” was totally different in content. It was about radical christianity not about radical islam as it used to have been in the last articles. This was a chance for us all to be neutral about radi9cal Islam and radical Christianity in relation to women. As i explained in my mail to u, u really censored something very important and this was againt freedom of expression (speech) that we are trying to fight in eritrea. I would invite people interested in this to read it at
http://www.mesel-biherat.com/ and take it from there. Assenna censored a very important article to the website and me in my opinion and did not really exchanged arguments as transparent as it could have been. Please continue supporting the website but I cannot continue here with that crucial article censored because it was my neutralizing bridge to my next agendas in mind. There are two articles at the Kunama website so far that u can read and the sensored one “religion and women” was bitter to swallow without which i could not move to my next agendas in line. We could have compromised but assenna was not willing to and rather closed the issue sticking on its initial position after i explained the importance of the article to all of us in this forum. I am willing to amicably argue on this is assenna is willing. Let us not please make this situation an excuse not to help assenna and plaese understand the importance of this website and help out. but i am out of the way with this censorship in effect.
I have few more writing to do and please follow me at the Kunama wbsite http://www.mesel-biherat.com/ if u may.

rahwa wrote a lot of the exchange of ideas in the forum and I don’t see anything wrong with my responses.
“now dear Mr. Fetsum these are only a few of the comments posted under your articles. even if we go back and see all those comments only a few were constructive. what do you think?
Response: We all had equal opportunity here and what is wrong with that? i did not change my style of communication here and there was no reason for assenna to censor my article based on the editors’ points of view. To me, assenna may have the right to sensor an article but it should not be on sunjective opinion but rather on breaking the code of conduct which i want to know. Only dictatorship censors ideas and articles in my understanding with all respect to who ever may entertain another idea. I wish I can explain the whole situation but I cannot do it here. I will try to do it somewhere but i am a little set back here.
Thank you all for your opinions negative or p[ossitive for that is exactly what freedom of speech is about. I Love you all and wish you luck. keep struggling for your rights with full energy and the down to earth on democracy shall make it in the end!!
