DIA might be dreaming that the young PM of Ethiopia will be a ring in his finger so that he can have his say on governing Ethiopia but once he discovers his dream is impossible to come true he will start his favorite job conspiracy and enmity and the poor people of as usual will pay the price.

Laid-back has been restored and relation is comparatively back to normal. Following this cheerful and lighthearted visit, PIA met with impressive people who renewed our optimism about the future of Ethio-Eritrea convenient neighbor ship. The energy and passion of Ethiopia, perhaps unsurprisingly their optimism: echoed that thousands of miles apart, determined to sustain and enhance One People Two Countries. And, notwithstanding the many challenges, I feel optimistic about future.
My call is therfore:
Both those of us in Eritrea and those in the Diaspora can help the situation best by being actors and catalysts in communication and shared activities/events that bridge differences. This can be on a personal level or on an organizational level
Peace, Selam, Pace, Shalom
Eritrea on a fast track diplomacy of handing its sovereignty to Ethiopia. The heavy price it paid in gaining its independence waging 30 years of war and the chain effect down the drain in vain.
Peace has never been a problem when made between any parties. And, this peace between Eritrea and Ethiopia is a welcome development.
However, the one old man ruling Eritrea is expediting the diplomacy towards his long held hidden agenda of handing back Eritrea to Ethio which has never been an issue that blocks peace between the two countries. Now, the peace process is being used to staget this hidden agendas of tyrant isias, ignoring the main issues and taking those hidden agendas in a rush while the people are in euphoric mood about peace prospect and not paying attention on what is actually being laid down.
The statement in quotes are his words,he owns them,they don’t belong to the Eritrean people.The is no alternative for peace,it is essential for the soul and society at large,thanks to the courage of Dr. Abiy and his colleagues for initiating the move and we appreciate those who reciprocated the call after hesitating briefly for one reason or another,only time will tell.That said,the people’s reaction on both sides,the Eritrean, part staged,part releasing the pressure valve that has been building up for years,the Ethiopian,reflects the demeanor and desire of their leader.Folks,genuine peace cannot be achieved until the Eritrean people start speaking for themselves,elect their own leaders,all political prisoners are freed unconditionally,the constitution and rule of law is restored,those tens of thousands displaced are welcomed home and properly resettled,the political space is opened wide for all the stakeholders to participate.This spectacle we are witnessing is a start, the Lord is in control,He will steer it the right direction.For now enjoy the visual effects,it is captivating at same time dumbfounding.However stay grounded and don’t get carried away,the landmines are still there.

But then Eritrean leaders were caught with their pants down and never even took time to speak to their own people – they took Eritreans for granted and did what they do normally – waited to wipe them selves and bow to Ethiopia. Thanks to Dr Abiy for saving Eritrean leaders from their imminent funeral preparation. If it was not for Ethiopia Eritrea was on its last breath. Well, also thanks to several shuttle diplomacy but yet to be apparent soon. Regardless of what Isayas and his junta say – back door diplomacy came though.
But what is ugly and apparent that the Eritrean leaders caught with their pants down is the fact that Isayas could not even speak something intelligible during visit to Asmara by Abiy. Worst yet, Abiy told Isayas to consider him as his foreign spokes man. Well the Ethiopians are smooth and well polished machine.
Now what, the mess is not clean yet. Eritrean leaders are weaving their normal evil and Ethiopia is ready for it. They have accepted their last hope to leave power in peace – well else the “storm” is now starting to brew and there will be no exit.
By the way – what did Isayas say when he visited Ethiopia? Well, Isayas sounds like dictator with getting one last chance. Sounds so much like a grade student with no style.
Peace to Eritrean and Ethiopian people and the storm is not done brewing yet…..hope some one with sound head will come to terms Assenna – I say you invite Dr Abiy and get a life time interview and open it the window up. I would help.
