A WAKE UP CALL FOR ALL ERITREANS IN DIASPORAS!

Dr. Tesfa G. Gebremedhin

History has taught us that unity is strength. When we are united, we are strong and we can win in any struggle, but when we are divided, we are weak and we can lose in a simple battle. Even the weak ones become strong when they are united. As we know each finger of our hand separately is weak; together the fingers become one strong fist as the image shown below. The unity of faith and integrity in ourselves and the unity of love and sincerity for our people can create miracles to our country. As long as we do not have enemies amongst ourselves, the enemies from outside cannot hurt us much. The worst thing to do in life is to become the adversary enemy of our own people. We should not worry about our enemies because we know them very well, but we must be very careful about our so-called friends because they know us from inside out.

The current spontaneous deliberation manifested in the name of peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea is a serious situation that has become of great concern to many Eritreans. We need to pay special attention to observe and evaluate if there is any hidden agenda disguised by the smart and smooth talks targeted for political gains and economic benefits and the sermon of peace focused for territorial integration and occupation. The sporadic unexpected kind of physical gestures and emotional mind-grabbing words, nerve-touching phrases and heart-breaking statements boldly expressed by the two leaders of Ethiopia and Eritrea and the people’s outburst for celebration that erupted like volcanoes throughout Addis Ababa, Awassa, Asmara, Zalambesa, Burrie, and other places, seem to be orchestrated and designed to neutralize, diffuse, or ignore the border issue altogether. It is not quite clear under what condition and to what direction is the situation heading because an official explanation or clarification of the nature of the relationship between the two countries has not yet been disclosed by the government of Eritrea.

It is evident that peace is a blessing, if it comes in good faith and noble intention. However, the declaration of peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea can be genuine and sincere only if the sovereignty of each country is appropriately respected and protected by the two governments. The most crucial and heroic thing we can do at this volatile and uncertain moment is to get united in order to safeguard our sovereignty by demanding for an immediate border demarcation before any already signed agreements and negotiations are effectively implemented by the two governments.  If we are not united we are always vulnerable to unexpected danger. We can have strong unity by respecting our diversity and putting our differences aside to do the right thing.

We, Eritreans in Diasporas need to secure unity, dignity and respect among ourselves to attain strength like the united fingers. We need to understand that the things that bring us together are far more than the things that keep us apart. Right now is the right time to come together and keep ourselves united with dignity and integrity so that we remain strong and respected by friends and foes alike.  Nobody respects us if we don’t respect ourselves with honor and pride. We must wake up and get up from our comfort zone and get involved to make a difference in our country’s affairs before it gets too late.

According to Michael Crichton (text modified), “If we do not know our identity (that we are Eritreans), then we do not know anything. We are just like a leaf that doesn’t know it is part of a tree’‘. If we lose our Eritrean identity, we lose everything. We came to this world as Eritreans; we have lived in this world as Eritreans; and when the time comes we must leave this world as Eritreans. Thus, every one of us should wake up, get up and stand up tall and united for all and one Eritrea, nothing more and nothing less.

Well said Dr.Tesfa!! As Eritreans we need to identify between a genuine peace and a bogus peace which is designed to strip our Eritrean identity, territorial integrity, and above all, our sovereignty in which we paid “dearly”. As Dr.Tesfa reminded us, let’s be united as one force and demand that our rights are respected. We need to know what is going on behind our back!!!! This blood thirsty devil and hater of Eritrea will not hesitate to gamble over our nation. Let’s .not ALLOW him. Let’s be loud and strong. Let’s forget to be supporters and opponents!!!! Let’s be ONE VOICE

    • Asmara Eritrea September 20, 2018

One voice will help but that is not the answer to our problem. Our problem is Isaias! The question is how do we get rid of this monster? Not by talking but deed. Eritrea was not liberated from Ethiopia by talking but by action that costed the lives of many thousands of our brothers and sisters.

What we need now is not a liberation army but one brave individual that liberates Eritrea from Isaias. Until Isaias is 6 feet under, the torture, imprisonment and killing of our people will continue unabated. We are not going to solve our problem by talking. Look at brother Berhane, he spoke out but what did he get? How many Berhane’s should be sacrificed before we start to act?

      Eritrea forever, death to dictatorship.

INDEED!!! ‘A WAKE UP CALL FOR ALL ERITREANS!!! ‘The declaration of peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea can be genuine and sincere only if the sovereignty of each country is appropriately respected and protected by the two governments.’ You are right Doctor Tesfa. G/M.
The question we should answer in words and deed is;: Why have we changed into a generation of singers and dancers even when we are led to our graves by Isayas and his cronies who blindly follow him and operate behind the scenes?! Why have we become a generation of sleepers who disregard all the sacrifices, in hundreds of thousands of lives and property?! Why! Why! Please let us not forget that history and God will judge each one of us who fail to keep the freedom for which many paid the ultimate sacrifice. Hopefully, our country still has some of the few and the brave sons and daughters, who rise up and bear arms during its darkest hours and put an end to this selling of sovereignty, and hopefully, if and only if we act and react, it is not too to secure our country’s independence

    Thank you Dr. Tesfa

We are witnessing events that may lead to complete loss of Eritrean sovereignty in few years.
    1. Peace is a blessing, no one needs it more than us.
    2. Eritrea is a prison State. The dictatorial regime has no intention of tolerating the slightest dissent.
    3. Mineral resources of our country are being exploited by foreign companies, while Eritreans are struggling to survive on less than one hundred USD per month.
    4. The number of the disappeared grows every year. And those seeking protection in foreign lands are estimated to be close to half a million in the last 10 years alone.
    5. We are in the middle a national tragedy that will have grave and irreversible effects on Eritrea and its people.

What is to be done ?
    1. National unity should be our priority one. Unity is not an option.
    It’s a strategy for survival.
It’s a pre-requisite for any non-violent and effective means to restore our national dignity and freedom.
    2. The current form of organizing, in my humble opinion, is not suitable to bring change in Eritrea, especially now that the regime has gained new friends in the region.
    3. A new “Mahber Shewaate/Haraka” is more effective. A secret national resistance organization, that can break the back of the Shifta clique in the country, by targeting a few mass murderers and those who protect them. This is the only way to avoid more expensive and potentially uncontrollable violence that sooner or later the country may go through.
    4. Time is not in our favor. The sooner we realize that the better.

    Dottere,
It is because of you guys (so called Bajela) were encouraging the dictator on whatever he said or did.
In this very forum, someone (you know who is) was criticizing you for being Langa-Langa and submissive to DIA.
Well, you are now finally woke up and I hope it is not too late for us.

It will be too late very soon, if it is not already. Every minute count.

Hagherawi is absolutely right we need to send a strong message to the oppressor, enough is enough. Why not focus in the city we all leave in and form a group in each state with the aim to elect a representatives for each country and have a body to oversee and plan a United front…

  • AHMED SALEH !!! September 20, 2018

At this moment Issaias looks more
interested to please Ethiopian demands where Eritrean rank and
file officials inside the country kept
silent . The road he tries to lead the
    country secretly made concerned
    nationals hostages again with other
    form of conspiracy .
The sad part is to see that we as a
society became our own enemies to fight against our common interest .
    We observed many political failures
and unnecessary lost of lives but
    silence overpowered justice seekers
    voice .
I don’t know when people will wake up to smell the aroma of unjust politics .

  • Lemlem September 20, 2018

there is nothing to stop Eseyas from what he wanted and what plans work for him. I think the time for wake up looks over because this guy is everything and able to manipulate any political or geopolitical interested to his power not the forgotten people. He has been notoriously the silencer of many who came out to speak . His agenda trends looks to sustain him in power as far as he could. Look at the past tells you the future very well. destruction of youth and education, making people to hate their country and making business with ports of unknown deal with United Arab Emarat . Ultimately he is gonna to dissolve and replace people and erase that the Eritrean identity is nothing. He had said once ” this country I bring it , and I can destroy it as well “

    Dear brothers and sisters

We don’t need to go to Sahel or Barka to wage war against a regime ran by a small group of traitors.
We need a secret organization of highly motivated nationalits who can work from within. People who will join/infiltrate Higdef rank and file.
A sophisticated underground organization that will liquidate the regime’s mafia bosses one at a time.
Eritreans in diaspora should work as soon as possible to create an organization that lays ground work for clandestine operations inside the country.
