They have tied their own very existence with that of Iseyas. They have paralyzed whatever has remained of the Army. The situation is very tense. A minor trigger may cause unexpected change. After independence, Eritrea was supposed to have a professional Army. But Iseyas and his clique wanted a militia loyal to the Party and its boss.
So it’s difficult to know who is charge. Till recently Filippos Woldeyohanis was Chief of Staff of the Army.
To my knowledge there is no Minister of Defense.
Even when Iseyas’ close friend and associate Sibhat Efrem was Minister of Defense, Air Force and Navy did not report to him. Within Territorial Army certain divisions report directly to Iseyas. The chain of command is purposely complicated in such a way that nobody known who is in charge and organized mutiny without bloodshed is difficult, if not impossible..
DIA using secret channels can liquidate anyone at any level excluding a few like Filippos who are protecting him. The Eritrean Army is mostly controlled by Colonels who happen to be from Hamasien. This corrupt segment of the Army, many of them illiterate or half-literate are behind most of the crimes that happen in the Army.

Hagherawi, eventhough I agree with most of your analysis regarding that eritrean national army is more a militia rather than a professional army. You have to be careful when you accusing most coloniels and the corrupt segment of the army are from hamasien. Please do not promote narrow minded regional and identity politics. We all know that the back bone of this dictatorial system is Hagerawi dihnet which is led by abraha kassa, Simon gebredingil and teame me Kele, who all happen to be from akeleguzay. We have to judge them for their evil deeds instead of selectively attack one portion of the society.

DIA hates his son. DIA is going to make mistake that he will never able to fix. There is no way his son is going to take over. DIA always likes to test the water. remember, a few years back, he had him put some flower on one of his yes man’s funeral service. Well, people didn’t like that and his son has been hidden since. Only surfaced again recently, when opportunity presented itself to sell Eritrea to the highest bidder. DIA is now embolden by the support of Ethiopian. They are treating him as an angel, rather than a war criminal. DIA not only have killed Eritreans, also have killed thousands and thousands of mainly Oromia youth. for 30 years plus during Badme war. just like Eritreans’ mother were crying, Oromia mothers’s also were crying for their children. Therefore,, DIA will pay with his useless son. DIA and Saba”s testing the water is not going to end well, It is time for Saba to cry bloody tears. like the Eritreans and Oromia mothers did, due to DIA.
If Saba the fake Eritrean thinks, she is going to have her way with our people lives again, she needs to think hard and long, because she is now the target. She has been running under the radar for so long, she thinks she is going to do this again. This evil woman has to pay for her crime.
This may trigger the first ever civil war in Eritrea, if civil war is the only way to get rid of the goddamn crime family, then let us have one.

I sense a bit of irritation from a usually cool guy. It is a surprise. Saba’s “full blown Eritreaness” will never let her be free of guilt and from being complicit in crimes against our beloved country and our people. I don’t want to say that you are siding with this criminal woman, but I think you are grossly bias. Eritrean or not, she is going to be held accountable, because she is DIA’s partner in crime, an accomplice who is working and caring for DIA. Therefore, that makes Saba a fair game!!!!. Simon G, don’t you think that this kind of mindset got us to this grave point. The lack of objectivity and bias toward each other. I would think Saba’s case would have been be a perfect exercise to practice objectivity. Noooo, we are Eritrean who are defected people who lack objectivity. Who time and times again tend to think from our perspective and experience, even if we are in our death bed.

I agree with most of what you have said but I was surprised you focus on her when there are many criminals with power (all the generals in defense & intelegencia) are lending hand to the criminal DIA.
I really believe Saba has no power. He doesn’t even treat her as his wife. We are talking about an unusual criminal guy who is known for killing his own brother (Amanuel).
BTW, most of the people we are defending (those who in jail) were simply watching him killing all those innocent & educated fighters or helping him killing them. It is sad but true.
I am not saying Saba is free of crime because she is Eritrean btw. Most of the current criminals are full blown Eritreans.

I think we all should have been more vigilant about any body who is close to DIA. I myself never occurred to me that Saba may have the key in saving Eritrean and Eritreans. Like say, 20 years ago. for a long time, I actually felt sorry for her. Then I saw her in her pretend home and with her real family including her granddaughter. This women actually is living her life, while Eritrean mothers are crying for their children’s dead bodies. Eritreans mothers were denied of their children’s dead body. Saba knows this. and she is ignoring it. it is all about proximity. if she wants it, she can end it anytime. Please listen to DIA telling the story about how he received the phone call from the Ethiopian PM, it is astonishing. He said he was sleeping soundly and Saba woke him up and , handed him the phone. She woke the reptile up to handed him the phone. I agree with you all the G15 or anyone who worked with DIA has blood on his/her hands. But Saba has the perfect proximity that anyone doesn’t. What she needs is motivation. She needs to stop pretending. The Eritreans women and men need to turn the attention to Saba and put her in a pressure cooker. She can’t pretend any longer. She and her family need to be shamed.
