As an Eritrean what more strikes me is not this news i heard about him, but when i think about all PFDJ diplomats competency is at most. See Ambassador Petros Tsegay in Germany, Wedi Gerhatu in England and those in Scandinavians, despite wedi Gerahtu a little seems clever but see how they all are very incompetent and wicked. Please don´t understand me wrong i am not un healthy Awrajawi, but every serious Ertrawi knows Isayas as not Ertrawi by origin, despite to fool people, his agents dare to convince us as if in his father side is from Hamasein and from mother side from Seraye comes. But my question why is most Hamasein citizens and few Serayes citizens be fooling and instrumetalizing by Isayas? This i say it in most relevant Europe nations all most all wicked ambassadors and their applauders at any meeting and festivals most Isayas selected and using them are most from Hamasein , while in another side he killed and imprisioning without trial from same awraja coming competent and brilliant real citizens, ambassadors and Ministers. For instance where is Ambassador Beraki Gebreselassie? where is Petros solomon? where is Sherifo? where is Ukbe Abreha where is Haile drue? where is General Berhane G/ezgiabher and others; this wicked puppet Ambassador Zemde tekle self once witnessed and proclaimed about them by saying,” Eziom Iyom! Iziom Iyoom Harnet zegonatsefuna!, Eziom Iyom Jeganuna.” Mr fake Ambassador where are these heroes now? How could the one who liberate Eritrea at once would be a traitor and Temberkakay?

    Selamat Truly and others,

Why is Iseyas so powerful ?, what is the source of his power ?

These are a very complex questions, and there are no simple and ready answer to them. But because we cannot leave such key questions pending, a tentative answer should be given, which can be corrected/modified or added to by fellow bloggers. Most of the time we hear people saying, his powerful because of:

    – The generals from Hamasien and high officers who make up 8 out 10 of top brass,

-The invisible killing squad made of ex-“Halewa-Sewra”/”Hagherawi Dihnet”,

    – Eritreans of Tigreyan/Ethiopian origin and some other elements, who hate Dekebat,

    – Members of Isepa neber (x-Derg members),

    – Some Jebha neber,

    – A group of Deki Bazii (Massawino),

-The Marya and Sahel tribial groups from DebreSala and Nacfa area,

    – Many of the ailing and aging Yikaalo generation,

    – Eritrean Diaspora, made mostly of young people born in foreign lands,

The list can grow.. But can all these people give DIA so much power ?
Well, I think Tesfay Tomuwo has given an insider’s view of how Iseyas’ system has worked throughout the years, and I am not claiming to know anything of particular importance to add here, but I have a feeling that something is missing even there.

Let me start by stating the obvious: We are too divided, and due to that, we failed to stand together shoulder to shoulder, and stop a monster who is destroying our people and our country.

This question is not yet fully answered:

Why is Iseyas so powerful? , what is the source of his power?

    • ገሪሙኒ June 27, 2013

      Dear Kalige,

u told us most of the so called Generals are from Hamassien!

      my question is:

what about all the top Hagerawi Dihinet officials?
what about the foreign office members especially embassies?
      what about the ministries?

so what do u really want to say here?? attacking or blaming some parts of the society to cover up ur own weakness doesn’t make change rather burn out and make situation ugly!

Kalighe , mentioned the number of high ranks official who hail from Hammasien . And last time , one
member of national security who is from Hammasien gave his version of how the people of that region
became victims of HGDF policy . So what is the fuss in here to get offended ? Does it sound proper
to defend few groups who manipulate their power to inflict pain on others just because we belong to
          same region ?
That does not make a sense at all !

        ገሪሙኒ

        Dear ገሪሙኒ

Regionalism is there, I am not inventing it. I am accusing only the Generals.
Now, is it necessary to point out who they are ?, I think yes. Because it’s important to show the glue that is keeping them together against the rest of the country. Let’s take the Generals as a sample population, we find that 9 out of 10 of them are from Hamasien (horrible crimes committed by army top brass has left Eritrea almost with no army that can defend it). Is this to say, there are no equally criminal elements at leadership positions from other regions ?, no, the dictator uses anyone who want make some money, but nothing should be compared to military leadership. Is is to say , the people of Hamasien are not suffering ?, not at all. Recent African history has shown that, the army as an institution is the most crucial establishment that can effect changes, although not always positive. The regime is made of many irresponsible elements from all regions, but the Army of the country is priority one. When the Army is controlled by a group of people, who happen to be from one region, or one tribe, or one religion ..etc in a country were all groups are supposed to share power and resources, even when everything seems to be ok, there is potential risk of mismanagement, to say the list. The problems are created by the regime, but those who oppose it’s policies should not hesitate to expose the tools it uses to keep people divided.

Why is Iseyas so powerful? , what is the source of his power?
Dear, Kalighe do you like an answer? you may not gave deep attention , or after you have read may you not deppely analayged it. But the perfect answer has already given by Brother Dawit Mekonen recent comment like this:-

“The world communities is talking about calamities befalling on Eritreans fleeing the country in droves, but if they could penetrate the Thick Wall of Prison where Isaias Afewerqi has kept our people incommunincado for the last twenty two years, they would find the situation a lot more bleak that requires immediate solution. But again, why would people run away from their country it it were not such calamitous situation!!

Yes, I blame the evil Isaias Afewerqi for the desperate state our country is in but equal share of the blame should also go to the Eritreans in diaspora who are sheepishly flocking behind woyane or him. If they had not abdicated their God given Power of Reasoning, they could have long seen the Truth behind the illussions these twin evils are progecting in the interest of their Abai Tigrai.

For so many naively gullible Eritreans, my assertions against Isaias Afewerqi are unfounded and sacrileges. Why do they hold such veneration of him despite the catastrophic condition he brought upon them and their country? It is the result of his sophisticated ways of indocrination to worship his Cult.

I said many times that since his days with Qiada Al Ama ( the 1960s), Isaias Afewerqi has been pre-occupied with killing Eritrean Intellectuals. Obviously his act is counter-intuitive because genuine revolutionaries ought to lure intelectuals to join them because they are the nuts and bolts of any interprize.

However, Intelectuals do not only serve as nuts and bolts but can also bring to light deeply hidden agendas through their rigorous logical analysis. Precisely, this fear was Isaias Afewerqi’s motivating factor that embarked him upon exterminating Eritrean Intellectuals for the last fifty years under false pretexts,. He has secret agenda, the agenda of Abai Tigrai.

The indocrinated cult worshipers, whom he referred to as Cheguar Danga, would not believe that the 1998 War with woyane was the result of premeditation of both woyane and Isaias Afewerqi to pre-empt the scheduled implimentation of the Eritrean Constitution.

Eventhough he admitted to the Claim Commission that he was the one who started the illegal war, todate, he has not confessed his lies to his cult-worshippers. In fact, he still lies to them by referring to the War as woyane Invasion.

If they were not heavily sedated under his spell, the cult-worshipers can ask him the following questions:

1.Why did he break the international Law even if woyane had stirred up border disputes?

2.Why does he still refer to the War as “woyane Invasion” when infact he was the proven perpetrator as disclosed by the Claim Commission?

3.Why did he suspeneded the Constitution and Baito, incarcerated Senior EPLF officials as defeatists when the Truth is that he was the One who launched the unnecessary illegal war in violation of International Law, which caused the unnecessary death of twenty thousand youngsters, counltess disable youngesters, more than million displaced Eritreans, ordered the withdrawal of Eritrean defense Forces from Assab Front, which if EDFs had accepted the order, our beloved Port of Assab would now have been in the hands of the criminal woyane etc.?

Fellow Eritreans, specially those who are spellbounded by the illusion of woyane and Isaias, I advise you to break the spell immediately, free yourself and see the truth that Isaias Afewerqi is a War Criminal. Your country, your people are calling for your help. Do not betray them at this crucial hour. Isaias Afewerqi and woyane are the same and are working hard to uproot you from your land and heritage. There is no tommorrow, do it today” by saying indirectly answered Dawit Meconnen.

By the way brother Kalighe what does it meanning your name?

    • Kalighe June 27, 2013

“By the way brother Kalighe what does it meaning your name?”

Truly truly i say to you,

When I am not in office, I use sandal shoes to walk around the city. These are similar to those used by the Roman Emperor Caligola (the one who wear calighe). He was named after a particular type of shoes (sandals) he used to wear know as: Calighe.
I always thought people should not judge anyone’s opinion based on what his/her name, in a society like ours usually implies. Regardless who is saying it, an opinion, in first place it should be considered for its value. Just we should think about what it adds or subtracts from our common good. Good ideas can come from anyone. No one has the monopoly of what is good for our country. We just need to get such important ideas very clear, and learn to listen to all voices. Eritrea is a rainbow nation, and its beauty is just in that. Only those who are consumed by negativity think diversity is a curse.
If you call yourself Omar on the net(even though you maybe a Oqbai in reality, as some PFDJ supporter purposefully do), people connect what you are trying to say, with who they think you are in terms of ethnicity, religion, and fail to see the importance of ideas that float on the blog from all sides.
That is why I used a nickname that looks a bit strange in a typical Eritrean setting. I replaced the first letter of the word “calighe” with ‘K’ and got ‘Kalighe’. I am an ordinary Eritrean who passes most of his time thinking about his country’s future, like most of you.

“Caligula was the third emperor of the Roman Empire. His years were marked by erratic behavior and debauchery. Caligula ordered the deaths of enemies and friends alike, threw absurdly lavish parties, …..and generally abused power while mishandling or ignoring affairs of the state.”

Caligula reminds me of one famous Tegadalai/btsai…Do you think Isias wears shida/Kongo when he’s in office? 

You are a good writer, even if I don’t always share your views. You are (equal/same) Saleh AA Younis. Why don’t you write articles instead of just commenting?

I would like to consult your vast knowledge to find a solution for the current problems of fragmentation within the Eritrean opposition.

As it appears there are many ethnic, religious and regional grievances that the opposition is still not able to address or live up to the expectations of the people. In order to prevent a civil war, would you entertain the idea of splitting Eritrea? The lowlands joining the Sudan and the highlands/Kunama/Afar becoming part of Ethiopia?

        Keep up the good work
        Your brother Zaul

        • Kalighe June 27, 2013

“As it appears there are many ethnic, religious and regional grievances that the opposition is still not able to address or live up to the expectations of the people. In order to prevent a civil war, would you entertain the idea of splitting Eritrea? The lowlands joining the Sudan and the highlands/Kunama/Afar becoming part of Ethiopia?”

          Zaul,

I don’t deny that there are serious problems affecting our ability to stand united in the face of many challenges, in particular those related to regime change in Eritrea and handing over power to the people. But, as far as I can see, today, there are less risks of Highland/Lowland split along the lines suggested by Britain, (to accommodate the Emperor’s claims about Eritrea), for the following reasons:

          – The Referendum was an opportunity for us, and the whole world to see, what we the people of Eritrea want. This time around, we all voted to stick together. The result was unanimous (except for a few noisy Ethiopianits, such as YG, Yebio etc, now, we don’t have many people crying for the lost love with Ethiopia).

          – Obviously, we voted for freedom, which unfortunately was in the mind of Iseyas and his group. This is one the most unfortunate and tragic chapters of our recent history, as many of you have gone through, personally, in one way or the other. We lost an entire generation of our young, in wars we never wanted. And due to that, bitterness is everywhere. Our social fabric is almost dismantled. Mistrust and mutual suspicion is paralyzing those who were supposed to work together to bring the necessary change and peace to our people.

          – But why so much negativity ?, who is to blame ?, did the great dreams we had in the early nineties gone with the wind ?. There is a french proverb I like: ” comme on fait son lit, on se couche” (as you prepare your bed [well], you sleep [well]).

          – For most of what is happening to us, we the people are to blame. It sounds bad, but I think it’s true. This is because, when it comes to State building, we didn’t have any previous experience. “We did not prepare our bed well”. Eritrea like many other developing countries in Africa, is a Nation is the making, with huge challenges that pose existential threats to it. So, what is to be done ?

          – Here is the good news: in the last two decades, we learned a lot. Ordinary people, have came to know, that not all we heard about ‘Ghedli’ was true. The leaders lost prestige. The politicians lost credibility. People have started to take issues in their own hand. There is a civil movement that stands for all Eritreans.
The old scars are healing, the old division are fading. Now we know who cheated us. The fake gods we had built in our minds are dying. We are all struggling save Eritrea. There is again hope in our hearts; the dark night is giving way to light on the horizon. Why should we fight each other ?. “Ni men kitimo ?”.

          Long Live Eritrea !!!

          • Zaul June 27, 2013

As much as I would love to be positive about Eritrea’s prospects, people voted for an independent Eritrea because our independence struggle was so bloody. Our nationalism was based on hatred of Haile Selassie/Derg and by extension everything Ethiopian.

I think we’re headed for a rude awakening, even if we think we’ve made our bed well this time.

I understand that Muslim Highlanders find the idea of living together with Tigreans, that they feel have mistreated them earlier in history may not be an attractive idea. But I don’t think Lowlanders would mind forming a state of their own together with their brethren of Eastern Sudan.

Why force people into an unhappy marriage, because we fear losing face and just because we were an Italian colony for 50+ years?

When we finally get peace, just like an old couple whose’ children has moved out the house, we’re going to ask each other, who are these people? Are they also Eritreans?

            French is a beautiful language

            l’enfer c’est les autres!
Et je sais qui tu es!

Do not go too far to talk about Muslims of highlanders to say we want to associate with Tigreans .
I am from Saho and proud Eritrean in the border of TIGRAY . We do not have an issue with them but
we do not compromise with our ERITREAN land .

However, Kalighe when i said perfect answer, it is not because i agreed with all points Dawit mentioned. But in his assertion at the last sentence wrote this , “Isaias Afewerqi and woyane are the same and are working hard to uproot you from your land and heritage. There is no tommorrow, do it today” because i agreed is only. In other word what i am saying is Isayas has more Ethiopian sentiment than Eritrean. This is why he causing all mess up.

He is the fool puppet to take order on how to manipulate using tricks a not treachery . At the end he
become a man with no brain enough to be honest to keep his integrity . He only deceived him selves not
to the people who were influenced by his charisma .

first thank you assenna for all doing great job.
why Issias is still in power. as one of us mentioned on the top. yes he is right all the top military officers are from hammassien. do you think they are the only herrios? where is the top military officers from the other awrajas’ eg. gen.oqube abreha, gen berhane ge/ezgabier, B.gen tekeste haile and biteweded aberha just talking some of them i know. all of them were disappear and they are not from hamassien. I am not reginalism but yes his generals do play a big roll to stay in his power. look here diaspora( DC) who is behind him? most of them they are from hammassien. even if you are supporter of him but from outside of hamassien never and will never trust you….sometimes i can not believe it when they say akeleguzay is reginalist. pls tell me who is awrajawi now? as i know som ppl here like dashim misgina, amanuel nache or niche, one round face again amanuel (alex taxi dirver,) berged, medhanie agame face and one short ugly guy ””””””and soon those ppl never make a good friend out of their awraja if they make you have to make sure it’s over the neck. i am happy all seraye and akeleguzay not to associate with dashim in ur wedding or party. he has to feel it as he is very norrow minded. now pls pls pls tell me who is awrajawi? how is our country doing? people? if they are not awrajawi they should stand with the people of eritrea.

I am not calling the hamassien ppl are awrajawi but some of them like i mentioned on the above. i am telling you again and again who is irrational now? by the way am from seraye. don’t go and attack akele. if you respect someone you respect your self.
