    To the organizers:

It is a good idea to have a gathering of Eritreans and other peace loving individuals to the event. From what I understood, the event is organized by advocates for human and refugee rights.

The topic is wide, heavy and of great importance which needs hours of discussion if it is to be meaningful. So, it is better to stick to the above topic instead of adding on top of it a musical component. An Entertainment session to go with it sounds a bit out of place and not productive. Ask what type of audience you expect to see as well. It is natural, for the crowd to pay more attention to the musical show rather than the discussion at hand. If not, postpone the discussion on human and refugee rights for some other time or vice versa.

Habitually, for many years, most events are musical in nature and takes the entire evening till early morning hours. Eritreans have to slow down such arrangements, to seriously choose to deal with burning issues for as we are deeply immersed in issues which need immediate reply. Now is not the right time to spend the whole night on the dance floor dancing and merry making when Eritreans scattered all over the world are going through untold misery.

For how long are we Eritreans to dance when the call is much more serious than any other time in our history? There are certain sectors of our population whose MAIN focus and effort is making money at any available opportunity irrespective of the situation Eritrea is in. In the last year or so situations both at home and abroad have evolved to become worse. Thus, Eritreans must take a different approach to what is happening on the ground and get involved. It is high time we take charge and make a follow-up to see what direction our movement is heading.

Eritreans residing in Germany are not small in number but their contribution and support to our present struggle had been minimal and limited. In some instances it is even negative. We expect more out of you and the response we have till now is very limited. Specially, Frankfurt has been lagging way behind in its participation supporting our national struggle bringing change for national salvation.

Let us keep our eyes on the ball to the good of our citizens both at home and abroad.

    Happy New Year!
