We all know the regime is brutal undiplomatic and working hard to destroy the country but what will the regime supporters say the cause of the electric shortage is? excuses of weyane and CIA are getting old and no one is fooled by it. As we know the Ethiopian government is working hard to provide electricity to it’s populations….look at the dam they are building at the cost of $4.7 billion dollars. Look at how they are working hand to hand with the neighboring countries such as what they just signed with Djibouti. Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda and many more are all lining up to buy electric from Ethiopia.

Electric Power :Ethiopia, Djibouti Sign Power Interconnection Agreement

Ethiopia and Djibouti have concluded a two billion dollar electric power interconnection agreement.
The agreement was signed on 3 July 2013 ine Addis Ababa Hilton during the 12th Joint Ministerial Meeting. The agreement is the second of its kind signed between the two countries.
Ethiopian Foreign Minister Tedros Adhanom and his Djiboutian counterpart signed the agreement.
The 230KV transmission line project stretching from Ethiopia’s Afar region to Jaba in Djibouti would enable Ethiopia to export up to 75MW of electricity to Djibouti.
The project is expected to be jointly financed by the two countries.

No way around it Forto. Like you stated it will benefit both countries (I am happy for them) but as for Eritrea unfortunately we will continue to have the issue of electric shortage. Eritrea is such a small country it wouldn’t take much to connect the cities and village with roads and electric city lines but to do that first and for most we have to have a government that will work for the people. We have to have a rule of law.

Awet you are right. May be it will be a good idea to import power from Ethiopia and I hope the end of cheap life is coming soon. The regime is out of control and it will only get worse. The people in Eritrea no longer count except for hard labor. The solution is regime change.

I really do not believe that the Ethiopian people will ever want to use Assab port for the following reasons.
1. Assab port is not equipped with latest technology as compared to Djibouti’s port
2. I can see how much Ethiopia is investing to develop its infrastructure to Djibouti’s port by rail ways, road. Ethiopia has already started building rails ways which will be 5000 kms in length and joining the Djibouti port with Addis Ababa and northern part of Ethiopia – Combolcha and Mekele.
I am really gutted that Shaebia blew our chances of getting lucrative port service business and electricity source from Ethiopia.
I hope my country and its people will be saved by the almighty God from ‘HGDEF MENDEF’.

It is disturbing and sad to hear Eritreans inside the country missed the privilege to enjoy simple
necessities in their daily life . When I call back-home and when my mother complain about on and off
shortage of electricity , it broke my heart . Imagine how we felt when we experienced when electrical
blackout occurred in our residential are for only one evening in places we live . What a shame , HGDF
mendef run by street wise thugs abandoned it’s people expectations to bring only miseries after miseries .
Our poor people inside and hgdf supporters outside should free themselves from WEYANE phobia mentality to
figure out how to detect and find solution for the core root of their problem
