The Ethiopia Eritrea No War No Peace Situation has to end. The Horn of Africa is the most conflict ridden region in the world. The people and the land are devastated by endless wars. The de facto no war no peace policy that has persisted between Eritrea and Ethiopia for the last 14 years affects the lives of millions in both countries and the stability of the whole region. Bringing this conflict to a peaceful resolution is of paramount importance. The devastating 1998-2000 war between the two nations cost billions of dollars in infrastructure damage, missed investment opportunities and lost aid, claimed about 100,000 lives, and dislocated millions of people. Instead of the end of the war bringing peace, for the last fourteen years the policy of both countries has been “no war no peace”. As bad as ope war is, an endless no war no peace situation is insufferable.
The people of Eritrea and Ethiopia that is both peoples are strongly motivated to see this conflict end and fraternal relations flourish again. More than 60 percent of Eritrea’s and Ethiopia’s population were born after the two countries were separated. They have managed to survive as two independent states for the last twenty four years. Both have made economic progress (in Eritrea’s case very limited thanks to Isaias), albeit from rock bottom. Still their main enemy is poverty. Their primary concern should be fighting famine, malnourishment, and disease. Like all people in the rest of the world, their objective is to create better education, economic opportunities and fair governance for themselves and their offspring. They are well aware that they are more likely to achieve these goals if they live in a peaceful environment. In short, they have no interest in being cannon fodder in any futile wars. No peace no war is an unwelcome imposition on their lives.

This article is nonsense, we should forget history, we need to open a new chapter with our brothers in Ethiopia. They did this and they did that, the people of Amhara have never committed this attrocities, it was the then undemocratic leaders. It is nonesense to blame the whole population for the action of very few.
As long as we stay in such mindset we will perish as a people, we are only making our neighbors into permanent enemies.

This No war no peace stalemate hurt Eritrea more, and seems to eventually has no bearing on Ethiopia. Eritrea hurts because all the population is affected by it. Every Eritrean youngster has to register for military training even older citizens are asked to bear arms and join the militia. Majority of the meager budget of Eritrea is spent on defense. Moreover, Asab port was a golden opportunity for continued income and employment. Due to the die hard stance of the President and to un-diplomat personality the port remains to be desolate. The youth are fleeting to Ethiopia among other places. Potentially, Ethiopia remains to gain the manpower and further, since those who can defend Eritrea are taking refuge in Ethiopia, the no war no peace benefits Ethiopia directly. The friendless Eritrean leader and his failed PFDJ system needs to be done away with and replaced with democratic Eritrea that is run by the constitution that was ratified in May 1997. Eritrea needs peace within itself and peace with all its neighbors. We have no other alternative if we want a generation that can live in freedom and peace.

It doesn’t give sense to remember the past when the worst is happening right now to the same people and in the same land. We Eritreas can no longer claim to have a unique history except, some misguided individuals who chose to serve for those maniac and evil PFDJ gangs. We have long, since we lost our bravery, morality, above all our patriotism and sense of nationalism. Eritreans have become the cheapest race in human history whose organs can be traded for few dollars, whose bodies can be seen anywhere damped, much more upsetting is they can be sold and bought alive by some nasty Arabs. Please lets do something before we perish of the face of the plant, that is the policy of Issais and his gangs and lets not make it happen.

Under the false pretext that Ethiopia (under the influence and support of America) has still hostile intentions on Eritrea, the Eritrean regime made a resolute effort to continuously maintain a huge army mainly consisting of conscripts – all forcefully mobilized in the name of national service. The truth is that Ethiopia is fully immersed in its own fast moving economic development programs and quietly minding its internal business while repeatedly calling for dialogue for lasting peace between the two neighboring nations. Lawless regimes like PFDJ are the highest sources of social-economic, political and legal upheavals in a nation as well as in a neighborhood region. Time to get rid of higdefs by any means possible.

How many Eritreans were willingly conscripted with the Italians as an Askaris in their attempt to invade Ethiopia, they were even willing to die as far us Tripoli. One of those who died in Tripoli was my great grand father, and this was at a time when the Ethiopians were fiercely fighting for their independece and they won before they were eventually defeated in 1935. We overlook what we have done, when we talk about past atricities the context of that Era must also be understood. They were Habasha but sided with the Italians to invade their own brothers. What happen when a soldier betrays his batallion and sides with the enemy. When caught in most instance they would execute him. This were Eritrean soldiers conscripted with the Italian army, they were not civilians. This lie has been told a thousands of times, what is the point from propagating hatred. The truth is we are neighbors and if we want to admit we are brothers.
I really don’t understand who is going to benefit from this narrow minded cycle of vengiance. What happen to our intelligence. No matter what no one would be a true friend to Kebesa Eritreans other than Ethiopians. It is good to learn from an objective history but it is panfull to stay there. Let us move forward with a new mindset, and free our selves from being hostages of history.

Ethiopians, stop posting your comments as you are Eritreans. You are not fooling anyone, but yourself.

In dead it is powerful truth massage “Godafa.” But this massage it should to be directed to Esayas, not to Esat or other Ethiopians. Because more than Isayas no one is working hard to accomplish the Ethiopian dream. In my view Ethiopians including Isayas for dreaming to gain port Asab as their own , as a whole, if i positive formulate for they wishing to see Ethio- Eritrea unite, i don´t want to blame them about , because to think about unity, reconciliation love by it self is not sin or evil idea, since in both peoples will, mutual understanding and in genuine consciousness be able was planned to establish we know its final result may could serve us both constractiveely. But the paradox the union they like to established as we observing from their evil did, it is not by love or peoples will, but by force after occupied our territories by humiliating our nations, by sabotaging and causing destruction upon our people and economy , by destroying our social culture and identity by suffering and humiliate our people it is , to be honest more than Godafa´s explained wound, the fact that i observing on the ground going now, it offends me much over than the past wound.
Despite all this because i have no any hatter towards Ethiopians in one side Esat´s for they hosted in our nation and returned safe while i am pleased, but i very ashamed hearing as no one gave them breakfast (food) before they began interview with Isayas. I know our people used to live in hunger thanks Isayas policy., but atleast for a gust they have to give something to eat, at least to keep the nation´s reputation.
