بعد معاناة طويلة مع المرض توفي في مدينة ساندياغو بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، اليوم الموافق 17 يونيو 2014 السيد موائل مبرهتو، عن عمر ناهز 80 عاما. وترك الفقيد أسرة مكونة من الزوجة وثلاثة أبناء ومثلهم من الأحفاد. وستُشيع جنازة الفقيد يوم السبت الموافق 21 يونيو 2014 في تمام الساعة الحادية عشرة قبل الظهر، بعد قداس على روحه سيقام بكنيسة القديس جبرائيل الارثوذكسية، ثم سيوارى الثرى في مقبرة “جلين أبي سميتري بونيتا – كاليفورنيا (Glen Abby Cemetery in Bonita, California).

After having been ill for some time, Mr. Mewael Mebrahtu passed away yesterday June 17th, 2014 at the age of 80. He had been under the loving and watchful care of his family for many years before he passed away peacefully in his home in San Diego. A memorial service will be held at St. Gabriel Coptic Orthodox Church, followed by funeral services at Glen Abby Cemetery in Bonita, California. He is survived by his wife, three children, and five grandchildren.

A great teacher, a great politician and a great man. I knew him in my teens and worked for him in his parliamentary election campaign by posting his posters on the walls of Asmara. I heard his election speeches which I still remember as if they were printed in my head. God bless his soul.

I grew up listening to his name until I met him in the USA. He was fierce resistance against this evil regime early enough some people like us never understood him although respected him always!!. It is my hope he was vindicated as droves lined up to his early conscience against this dictator in our beloved Ertrea.
May the soul of Abona Mewael Mebrahtu rest in peace and with his passing we get more united as we reflect the past in his memory! I pray and pay condelensce to his family & friends.

He was well known and respected politician in Asmera who represent Eritrea in Ethiopian
parliament . I don’t know that much but our elders used to admire his fierce stand on
Eritreans issue . You know at that time most of them were corrupted or only symbols
except few of them like him .
